Batten down the hatches or head to higher ground on the Texas Gulf Coast. The hurricane looks like a rough one on the tracker map.

Live west of San Antonio in Medina County and we didn't get a drop of rain. Houston got it bad and it is curving up to the northeast some from there. We have been in a drought for months and could have used some of that rain.

If the power companies could restore power to this area it would be great, but it will be the 15th before our neighborhood is back on.

We didn't lose power at the shop, just our house.
I have a 6500W inverter generator (WEN) that I have in my car port connected to a outlet (30A) that goes to a transfer switch in my home under my electrical panel. I can switch on most of the stuff in the house except for the high amp draw stuff (A/C/furnace), microwave and stove. We have portable A/C units that we can run and stay cool and oil filled heaters that can be brought down from my shops in the winter.

Do not have water as the generator does power the pump shed. When we had he storm in 2021, our power was out for 5 days and it was freezing cold and I went through a bunch of wood in the fireplace. My old generator (Champion) just wouldn't start and hence, the WEN. Secret is using synthetic oil which doesn't turn to glop in freezing temps. Also, shut off power to the well pump and aux pumps until things thaw.

When we first built our house here on 6 acres the power went out regularly so in frustration I contracted to an electrician to install a fully automated 14,000kw whole home generator system…. the power has never gone out since!! 💩

Damn, that's a pretty big generator.
