Stopping a trike basic question

Hi All,

I have a question which I think I know the answer but just wanted to check with you. I have a 97 GL1500 SE and have dropped it 5 times in the last year which prompted me to get it converted. Just can't balance it at a stop anymore. My dumb question is what are the characteristics of the wing (after converting) stopping with the bars turned. Does it still want to take a nose dive in the direction the bars are turned? What should I be aware of when stopping on a curve using the front and rear breaks together?
Thanks for any help

Front can't dive . Oh wait if you did it at 50 MPH I would say be careful. You will deffinetly know you have the bars turned if you stop that way. If you want to know if it is gona fall down the answer is NO!!!!

Thanks John, that was my initial thought as well and you just confirmed it. Thanks

Personally IMO, braking a trike should follow the same rules as a bike; straighten, then turn.

Turning during braking is a bad habit to get into outside of a parking lot because as the front dives you will "unload" the rear tire(s) reducing the already minimal weight on them which could lead to skidding and loss of traction. Not to mention the stresses on your front forks.

"NEVER" hard brake a Trike with the front wheel turned. The front wheel will skate and un-load the rear wheel that it is turned in the direction of (turned left, un-load left rear, etc.).....pretty much anything that applied to braking a 2-Wheeler still applies to Three.......ThumbUp

thanks Guys for the feedback. What prompted the question now is last year I was with a friend going to a local motorcycle function and we were passed by a group of guys going to the same ride. About 2 min later we were taking the exit for the event and came around a corner and there were wall to wall bikes laying in the road. I swerved to avoid them and came to a stop but my bars were turned and dumped the bike. That was a small price to pay for not hitting anyone or running over a downed motorcycle. I was just thinking about this incident thus prompting the question. BTW, only one guy was hurt with road rash and a broken jaw.
