How many use the stock GL wired intercom system? I have been looking at headsets to work with this and they are Way expensive compared to wireless systems.

Use the on-board stock system all the time....but have to keep assuring the bride that "No, nobody can hear us"... LoL!! She keeps getting the intercom and the CB mixed up.. LoL!!

Danny I've always thought the opposite. By the time you invest in the helmet and bike side of the system I think it is pretty costly. Then you have to factor in keeping the helmet battery charged. I'm sure things are more reliable now then a few years ago but it seems to me keeping it simple is usually the better way.

Yes, I've hard all the horror stories about broken wires and other parts of the wired headsets. To be honest I don't buy into that.... I have had the same J & M headsets and cables over 10 years now and they still work quite well. Sure as I say that I'm doomed to breaking now for sure!!:gah::gah: If you decide to go the wireless route please give us an update.

I would like to find an affordable set to use with the bikes system but if I can't I may go with the Sena system. I've some good things about this system.
Goldrush, I will check out the J & M headsets also.

I am newly returned to the Gold Wing World having just taken delivery of

a new 2014 with the California Side Car Viper trike installed at the CSC factory.

Looking for a temporary way to check out the audio/xm/cb I ordered a IMC

helmet audio system part HS-G130P $85.00 and installed it in a Vega NT-200

open faced color matched helmet $71.99 costs delivered from ebay.

At these prices I was not expecting too much. I was very surprised at the

apparent quality of the helmet and the ease of installing the audio accessories. All is working fine. Time will tell but this was a low cost way

to get out on the trike. Much less expensive than my Harley helmet'audio.

We bought the scala G-9s 2 years a go and they were a POS wasted almost $500 bucks on them. called scala three times and got no answers that worked. finally got so pissed threw them in trash. Ill try sena next time.

I may look around and try to find a pair of USED head sets and make sure I like using them before I invest in a new high dollar set.

Take a look at Interphone products, excellent quality and value IMO. I purchased the F3 model 2 years ago and have been very pleased with their performance. There are newer models but the F3 is still available.

I bought the J&M headsets and they worked for the radio but not the intercom or CB. I didn't like being connected to the bike with the cables either so eventually bought a pair of SENA's for less than $300.00 and they work great. I haven't had any issues with battery life, they seem to last a full day of riding. I don't like the VOX feature so the radios are on constantly. I haven't had the need for the CB much so not having that feature doesn't bother me as much. SENA does have a adapter to work with portable radios that I might try for HAM use at some point.

Have used stock intercom always, and always J&M headsets..They work just fine and J&M stands behind their products,If problems they will fix the problem.ThumbUp

I have had both a Nolan bluetooth system and J & M headsets. Price worked out to about the same for either. With the bluetooth you could hear nothing on the bike without a wire to one or the other of the helmets. The one wired to the bike could work all items on the bike. The passenger could hear everything on the bike but couldn't key the CB. At that time J & M had a system for the Nolan 103 helmet, which I had and to make it all work with the bike was $2000. I'm fairly cheap so that was a deal breaker then.

When Nolan came out with the N-104 I called J&M and ask about a system for those helmets they didn't make it and weren't going to so when to wired headsets at that time. I liked the bluetooth system but since it wouldn't tie completely into the bike wireless I felt it wouldn't meet my needs and therefore be a waste of money. Another drawback with the wireless at that time the battery life was 12 hours on time.

We ride up to 500 miles a day and some days would run out of power and to avoid this we needed another wire to charge headsets. Easily done but now it was two wires not one.

I have used my stock Goldwing system with J&M wired head sets and they have always worked fine. Since I take my helmet off before dismounting being wired to the bike is not a bother to me. You can find good deals on headsets from http://www.sierra-mc.com/ no matter how you want to go and they will even talk to you and help you to decide.They sell J&M and other brands and have been cheaper then J&M themselves.

I think for right now I will try to find a Used OEM type system that someone wants to sell for a reasonable price. I have never had or used an intercom system on a bike so I;m not sure it would be worth investing a lot of Bucks into. The Wife and I have always communicated pretty well all these years of riding without any problem so I could probably get by without. It just seems like a waste to have access already on the Trike and not at least try it.
