I know it's apples to oranges but CSC uses a steel panel (gravel pan) that goes from just behind the motor to just under the differential to protect the driveshaft. It has bends that curve up on the side and it's attached to a sub frame and protects the driveshaft. It's not completely closed off but would definitely protect from stuff bouncing up off the ground and up like what you experienced.

That may work. Even a flat sheet under the belt.
 
I'm going to look at that idea. Maybe even a screen of sorts. If i ever have to go through this again i'll opt to junking the whole trike.
Got the rear fork loose today and just waiting on new belt. Should have totally back together by sunday. Y'all know; there was a time i said i would never get another Harley.
