I am seriously considering a change from 2 wheels to 3 wheels in the next year....after 50 years on 2 wheels, I will do what I need to do to continue riding..ThumbUp...age, bad feet and 32K worth of titinium in my lower back are causing this change in riding style.:AGGHH:...my problems are getting on and off and stopping and starting on my 2013 Honda F6B....anyway, I seek advice....

I would really appreciate the positive advice from others on the forum, especially those who own..... or have owned.... both a standard trike and a reverse trike, such as Can-am Spyders.... the pros and cons of each set up....stability, handling, riding comfort, steering characteristic, tire PSI and wear...etc.....

I am interested in keeping my Honda GL1800 platform, simply because it is the most reliable bike I have ever owned.ThumbUp...
But....I am interested in the new Hannigan HRT reverse trike GL1800 introduced in sept of 2015 and also the standard two wheels in the rear trike conversions for my F6B currently offered by Motor Trike and Hannigan Trikes.....

I would be excited to hear pros and cons and any constructive advice or experiences from veteran trikers....ThanksThumbUp

Having had a Spyder, And now a Tri-Glide... I have to say the Spyder does have a better reverse, and better brakes... Handling it's 6 of one half dozen of the other... I prefer the Tri-Glide better. As far as reliably and dealer network.. Hands down Tri-Glide.. But if i was you i would trike the F6B.. Its a Honda what more can say.. My biggest regret was trading in my VTX 1800 Honda for the Spyder:mad:, i should have triked my VTX....:mad:

Steve, I don't know anyone that has converted a GL1800 to the reverse trike configuration. I've seen photos so there must be some at least. I wonder what the handling chacteristics would be like. We know the Spider and conventional trike conversions are stable so for that reason alone I'd choose the later. Keep us posted when the time comes. Especially if you choose the first option! :xszpv::xszpv:

OH, and welcome to the Three Wheel World which ever you choose. Like most of us you'll wonder why you took so long getting here. :D

I guess I won't be much help.It seems to me that the reverse trike hannigan offers is much different than a spyder. If I remember correctly the hannigan will lean in the turns, and spyder does not.I rode a couple of Spyders and the new model is much improved over the old models .I did like the spyder and intended on buying one,but my wife did not like the way it felt to her when she was co rider. She said she felt like she was falling off in the turns. A reverse trike that leans would eleminate that feeling. We rode my brothers CSC trike and that is when she said this is what I like. I like her to go with me on rides so a Roadsmith conversion is what we have.We have not put to many miles on it yet ,but she likes it ,so it's staying around for a while.I would like to ride a hannigan reverse trike to see what it is like.

There was a guy that showed up on a reverse GL1800 on a RTE I attended about a month ago. I didn't talk to him but from talking to others that did they said that he was unhappy with it because of the way it handled curves. The trike drew lots of attention but the owner thought it was unstable on corners.

I have not been on a reverse trike YET. I recommend you call Hannigan and see about riding each one befor making a decision. Take a trip to Hannigan plant in Murrary Ky and meet the great folks, tour the factory and look the trikes over. They are all nice, helpful people at Hannigan.

The Spyder has traction control for those "hot" turns. I'm not sure any of the other RTs have that. The R18 from the Netherlands does not,,,pretty easy to lift a wheel is what I found when doing my DD at the time.

One thing I like about my conventional Roadsmith trike is that while shooting down the road I see the exact same view as a bike. I guess I like the view? I can't speak for the reverse trike but I just can't imagine it has the same feeling.

When I was considering which way to go, I spoke at length with Herb and Ruth Anne at Hannigan to make a determination. I have decided on a regular trike conversion by Motor Trike for my '05 GL1800. It's in the shop not awaiting installation. I have ridden the Can-Am Spyder multiple times and it is truly remarkable in its handling ability. However, remember this bike was engineered from the ground up as a rev trike.

I agree that unless you plan on only going straight, never twisty roads and pay extra attention in every corner, than a standard trike conversion is the way to go. The cost is about the same anyway. Just my two cents based on my limited knowledge so far. Most of the other members of TT can probably give you much more sound advice.
