Cee Baileys head lamp protectors are not the most astetily pleasing accessories but they sure do their job!! Back in 2003 I purchased a set and put them on my '01. When I traded for the '06 the protectors were swapped over.

This morning I went out to my shop to clean up the trike after yesterday's ride and found the right protector had caught a big rock judging by the size of the shatter and cracks! Imagine my surprise and relief. The new head lamp assembly cost $252 so I'd say the $49.95 a set is a pretty good investment. Replacement head lamp protector is already on order.....

Here is their web site..... Cee Baileys | Motorcycle Seat Recovering, Custom Seats & Recushioning System

Just a quick little addition to that story. Way back when I had the '01 I read about these protectors and ordered a set. The next day I met a car that kicked up a rock. You all have heard how it takes so long to replay an accident in your mind. Well it took at least an hour for me to watch that rock put a peck mark in the '01 head lamp. I was lucky then - could have cost me that $250. This time I was really lucky. No doubt in my mind the lamp assembly would have been trashed.:Excited::Excited:

A friend of mine just put a set on his '12. They aren't clear like mine. The gray tint looks nice but I wonder how much it would cut down on the light brightness.... :AGGHH:

Have a set of protectors on the '04 GL1800. They haven't needed to do their job, and I hope they never have to. I am glad to have them whenever I see stories like this. WE had a 1500, I would think the light covers would be even more important on that as the light is almost square, flatter and more likely to be hit square. I also have the fog light covers. As the fog lights are just above the road seems they would have a good chance of getting hit.

Yup, You'd think the fog lights would be great targets. I've had them and the Cee Baileys covers the same length of time as the head lamp protectors.

The only time I ever lost a fog light cover was when a Red Tail Hawk and my right fog light had a collision. The hawk and entire fog light were DOA. Not a pretty sight at all. Scared the bajeebers out of me to say the least.

Similar experience: several years back I had a Boulevard C50 on which I had just installed a windshield. Riding on I-71 I was boxed in about 50 yards behind a semi when the tread came off one of his tires and a huge chunk came at me in v-e-r-y slow motion - I had no place to go and just had to watch it come slamming into my windshield. Had it not been for that windscreen I probably would not have a head! Years later after I bought the Wing I came across a set of the headlight shields at the local dealer and had an immediate flash-back - and bought them on the spot. $50 well-spent and I'll never miss that little bit of money in the fullness of time.

Gray tint is a deal killer for me, I won't install anything that reduces the amount of light. I have to believe the gray tint does reduce the light output.
