Well, after lots of input from you folks and some locals, I have just jumped off the high dive. I am picking up a 2009 Goldwing 1800 tomorrow (Candy Black Cherry) to be delivered to my local Motor Trike installer for conversion. The kit is ordered and will be ready October 18. I should be riding by the following week.
I went with the Motor Trike mainly due to the close proximity to my home. You will remember I had narrowed things down to a Hannigan or a Motor Trike. Everything I could find out suggested that either kit was excellent, so it would come down to the installer. I researched both Lone Star in Mahomet, IL and Trikes by Dennis in Mattoon, IL. I got rave reviews for both installers. I could not find a dissatisfied customer of either. So, it now comes down to $$$. The prices were spot on with each other with the options I wanted. My decision was not easy, but I went with Trikes by Dennis because his shop is 10 blocks from my house.
My decision takes nothing away from the Hannigan kit or Lone Star. If Dennis had not been so close, I would have gone with them in a heart beat. I cannot say enough about the responsiveness from Gary and Wayne at Lone Star. Wayne was great enough to spend 30 minutes on the phone with me allowing me to pick his brain. Great guy and I hope I can get up there to ride with him some day.
I am like a kid waiting on Christmas now. The excitement just keeps building. I will report back after I get the bike and have some time on it. Thanks to everyone for all of the good advice. It sure guided me in my research and in making my decision.
