Hello from north central Illinois. I guess you could say that this is my 50th anniversary as a biker. Bought my first cycle at 18 and have been on two wheels ever since ( 68 now). About ten years ago I had a heart attack while driving to work ( in a car) and decided to sell both my Harleys. Didn't want to be on two wheels if this happened again. However, I still had the urge to ride so I bought a mint 2002 V Star 1100. I rode it last year but never felt at ease due to two really weak knees. I decide to have my V Star triked but found out early in my search that most conversion kits were not made for the shaft driven 1100. I finally found American Trike up in Chicagoland and contacted them to see what they could do for me. Mac gave me a good deal and now my bike is being converted. It's been two weeks and I hope to have it back in another two. The worst part is waiting. The weather has finally turned nice and not having anything to ride is getting to me. Oh well, two weeks isn't really that long. As soon as it's home, I'll post some pics.

Hello Dick and welcome to the website from the U.P. of Michigan. First, Thankfully you survived your heart attack , I certainly hope that you don't have to go thru that again. Second, the choice of shaft drive trikes is, I believe, a little bigger than just a few. I know that I have been just looking around for an update since mine is a 1990 and used trikes are quite common. I wish you luck, hope to hear from soon, and ride safe!

Jim, I know what you mean about the zipper. I had four bypasses done twenty years ago and have the "zipper" to prove it. Not that I would know, but was told that I had a heart attack during surgery.

Thanks for all the greetings, feel at home here already.
