SLINGSHOT by Polaris

Re: Polaris Slingshot

If I got into one, not sure I could get back out of it without the help of a forklift......don't think that is this bigboy's type of rig.....but for the wife, well that's another story.

Re: Polaris Slingshot

I saw the pictures and a few videos and it make me wonder....is this really a trike or a three-wheeled car?

Re: Polaris Slingshot

Regardless of how you classify it I like it. Is it more car-like than say a Motor Trike Stallion or more like a beefed up Spyder? Or something in between.

Re: Polaris Slingshot

Bet it's fun to ride but you'd better look sharp at any turnoffs, driveways, even intersections on secondary roads or you'll scrape your cheeks. Speed bumps might be an issue as well. That said it's probably a hoot to ride in the curvy parts.

Re: Polaris Slingshot

If you read the specs on it, it is a foot wider and 2 feet longer than a Stallion which makes it pretty darn big !! The article in Cycle mag didn't show or say anything about storage either. Probably come up with a trailer hitch later.

There is storage behind each seat and a lockable glove box..

Re: Polaris Slingshot

As said on the Harley thread. Looks car like. Very wide. I would buy one but Conn is not allowing it to be reg or sold here yet...

Re: Slingshot

Some great comments and I agree with most of them, its not a motorcycle. Would rather spend my money on a new trike.

Re: Slingshot

Yea! My favorite part ,seatbelts with shoulder harness and a foot clutch, steering wheel, side by side seating ,5 speed stick shift ,when does it become a motorcycle?

Hi John Hope all is well. I also like the Slingshot, wondering what it would be like on the Interstate Highway being that low to the ground, when a Trailer Truck passes by?

Good Day

See discutions on this Car or Motorcycle in other places on the forum.

Re: check out the Polaris Slingshot

I wonder what it looks like from the rear, Most shots are from the front or sides...

They show Very few from the rear, Not like when ''J'' Low walks down the red carpet and they show both sides.. :pepper::pepper:.......:D

Re: 2015 Polaris Trike

My Wife who has never had any intention to ride on any bike/trike, Said if I get the Slingshot' She'll ride with me in that.....

Sooooo I'm out , No Slingshot for me....:D

Local dealer here said they have been shipped to him and will have them the week of Thanksgiving. prices start at $19,999. ;)

I find this rather amazing for a base price, especially when trikes are going for 30K plus or minus depending on variables. Maybe I missed it, but I don't see much storage on this vehicle, could be a down side.

Texas decided this wasn't a motorcycle because the seat was wrong, and it doesn't meet automobile standards. So, no Slingshot for now in Texas.
An article http://www.autoblog.com/2014/11/13/texas-polaris-slingshot-registration/
says the it needs a "saddle", which you sit astride, instead of a seat. Seems to me they could put a longer "horn" that comes forward between the drivers legs and that would meet the letter of the law. We'll see after the engineers do their thing, and especially when the lawyers and bureaucrats do the voodoo they do.

Texas isn't the only state to reject approval of the Slingshot. Add Indiana, Connecticut and Maryland to that list as well. Polaris has been making deliveries in some states with a few owners picking them up.
I'm still waiting for my dealer to call but heard thru the forums mine may not be delivered till January. Probably just as well since winter has arrived but could add on goodies while waiting for spring to return. I'd like to trailer it south for a week or more after the holidays too.
