Should've bought a plane ticket

April's trike has been done for roughly two weeks now. Got the pictures to prove it. Unfortunately, due to my impression that work wouldn't support me taking leave at this time to get the bike I set it up so the shipping company that took the bike to Texas would return it to us as a trike. They picked up the trike from Texas just over a week ago, last week I was hoping to get the bike, but on Friday when I called them, they said it would end up being this week. Today my wife calls them and is informed that the driver that was supposed to pick up the trailer holding the trike hurt his foot and was unable to get the load to bring this way. So now we have no definite answer on when the trike will be here, they say they will try to get it to us by the end of the week, but my trust in them is slipping. I still don't know if work would have supported me taking leave, but the majority of the leadership is all there so I don't see where it would have been an issue. I could probably get the plane ticket, gas for the trike, and hotel rooms for the same amount, possibly less than what we paid for the shipping company and the trike would be here already. Not to mention the chance to ride the dragon and cherohala on the way home, its not directly in the route home, but its close enough a detour would have been warranted.

Well, it is too late for me to take leave and get a plane ticket. Not sure if the shipping company would refund part of the money or not as they have at least transported the trike some. Just not as much as I would have liked by now. Now if I find out its going to be another two weeks then I'll have the time to take leave and get a ticket, but even then I'm not sure if there would be any savings in it.

Ouch! What kind of shipping company only has one driver? A friend of mine is retired Navy living in Yorktown. I will be down there for July 4th long weekend. I'll send you a line then if you want to try and meet up.
