Shock me.

I'm refurbishing an old "Northern Tools" trailer to pull behind my 2013 triglide. It already had leaf springs on the axle but I would like to also add some shocks to the axle to hopefully reduce the trailer bouncing around when empty. Does anyone know of what type of shocks I should use and where I might find them?? Cause the trailer is only about 40" x 44" (or something like that) and a maximum weight capacity of around 600 lbs. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I don't think shocks will help......Light weight trailers when empty will bounce , Nature of the beast....

I agree also. the shocks will not compress because there is no weight to compress them, therefor no dampening effect.

How about trying a water bladder. Water is 8.8 lbs/gal so a 5 gal collapsible plastic container would weigh about 50 lbs. Fill it up when trailer is empty and empty it and fold it up when trailer is loaded. That way never running with empty trailer bouncing around.

Water will slash around unless the bladder has baffles. So choose wisely. 50 pounds shouldn't be too bad though. But I'd still suggest a bladder with baffles if you go more than 50 pounds. 50 just might not be enough to compress the leaf springs.
