shipping a trike

Yes it can be crated. It will be fixed toa wooden skid so the forklift can move it around. It will cost you an arm and a leg to ship it this way. I know you are in NZ and it would take forever on a ship but this is clearly the cheapest way (unles you have dolars to burn). I have shipped 5 trikes from the Usa to Europe and one via Norway.(that one with the help of a friend)
Good Luck if you try it...ThumbUp

How did I get NZ? How daft am I..Don't answer that LOL. The idea is still the sameif going further afield. If you are going overland then sticking it on a truck is the best bet...;)

Hi

This is a recent quote for shipping a goldwing trike to the UK. Expesive.
It will cost you around $800 to send it by sea in a container.

Quote- For the trike; based on you delivering your Honda Goldwing Trike into our agent’s depot in New York, where it will be strapped onto a motorcycle sled and shipped to our depot at Heathrow, cleared through UK customs and ready for you to collect; the cost by air freight would be GBP 2,095.00

The full cost of a trike valued at say $25000. (By sea container or roll on roll of ship)
Lets start here:
Price of the trike $25000
shipping & insurance $800 = $25800
Once arrived in the Uk:
Customs take: The price of your trike $25000,
Add 8% of the price if the trike is over 1000cc say $2000,
Add you shipping costs $800 Total = $27800.
Customs then take 20% of $27800 = $5560.
They than add $5560 plus the $50 for xraying the trike plus agents fees of around $150 leaving you witha a customs bill of $5760 add this to your original price inclusive of 8% with agrand toatal of $33560 divided by the dollar on the day say £1 is equal to $1.55 so Uk price is £21,615.
Now that you have the trike in the Uk,next comes the bit where you have to have it ready for the Uk roads. VOSA will charge you £105/$68 for inspection of the vehicle, if it passes you have to have an MOT which is £38/$23. Got all that then you can register the trike at a cost of £70/$45. Oh...and of course you have to have a parking brake fitted at a cost of around £150/$220 so the real price is...are you ready...£21,970/$34,054 having only paid $25000 in the first place.....
Expensive to folk in the Usa but not too bad for us in the Uk.
Just ask me if you want to shipThumbUp
