We have internet + Std cable. No HD service, but we do have 6 control boxes at $6 a box/mo.
I checked the other cable provider available and it's only $20 cheaper per month for the same service.

Sling TV is looking better and better. I may get the basic cable to get the local channels and then get Sling for 1 or 2 sets. Too bad they don't offer ala carte so you can pick what channels you want.

Crazy how expensive cable is getting. Ticks me off that they will offer new service at 1/2 the rate and then jack it up on you in a year or two.

Yeah, they know what you have now, what the other guy offers, and how addicted we are to TV, inter net, etc. Ya have to wonder if the cable companies don't communicate with each other when setting rates, illegal or not. We're just like fish in a barrel to them.

I certainly have no "crystal ball", but there will come a time when cable goes away.
With everything happening on cellular nowadays, limited tv, internet, etc., there will come a time when it will all be wireless.
I believe the only reason its not in place now is the wireless carriers haven't figured out how hard to financially "rape" their customers, like cable companies are now doing:mad:

You have six TVs in your house. Must be a palace. Good for you.

Call them up and say your going to cancel, Then see if they will give you the new service rate... Like Satellite radio does...

As long as there is competition in the area they'll adjust the price to keep you as a customer. I have to call every time they raise the rate and complain and always come out on top when doing even though it is a pain in the you know what. Gotta stay on top of it or they will get outrageous with increases. Guess it is the squeaky wheel reality. There are five different competitors in my location so it works pretty quickly when I say I'm going with a different provider if they don't remain reasonable.

Yeah, we are slaves to tv. That and having kids didn't help. Like having the boob tube on too much. :gah:

Hey i have 5 TV's.... 3 Working and 2 broken stiitng in the attic that my wife refuses to toss....:gah:

Ok, call them and tell them you want a better deal.
If they cant give you one tell them you are really sorry, but you have to look at other options. Then tell them you want to be transferred to customer retention.
Or what ever they call it..
more than likely they will swing you a deal

Maybe she's waiting for them to re-gen

Pack rat syndrome...., I'm waiting for the attic to collapse...When i say when are we gonna clean out the junk... The stock answer is next week... Which in her thinking means Feb 30...
But what the Hey..

We got tired of playing that game year after year. Bought a digital antenna and cut the cable. Don't miss cable TV at all. Still have them for internet but searching for better options there too.
