I've only been enrolled in VA healthcare for a few years, and have only been getting 30% disability (AO exposure) for a couple of years, and I'm still trying to figure out the whole system!
Yesterday I had an envelope in my mailbox from the United States Treasury. Don't know about anyone else but official envelopes from the Government are usually not something good.
I opened it and there was a check to me for $105.00. On an included piece of paper, the notation simply said "SC RETRO ELIGIBILITY CHANGE"........What the f*#$ does that mean?
After some internet investigating, I discovered that this $105 payment was for prescription co-pays that I made between the time I originally filed for disability and the time it was finally approved. The scripts that I have taken for over 30 years were all related to treating ailments caused by AO, so after the VA admitted the connection and granted my disability they will forever pay for the scripts.
Now if the VA is taking the time to include an 8x11 sheet of paper in these refund envelopes with the checks, why would they not at least include a short paragraph explaining what the hell the money is for?
So anyway, if anyone gets one of these checks now you know what it is for.
