Was just wondering if anybody had one of these installed ? I bought one and thought it was going to be great. The configuration is great and have been using most of the pockets but how do you keep it affixed to the trunk lid. I use their mounting tape and such but it keeps coming loose. I cleaned the whole lid area with brake cleaner and alcohol but it still comes loose. My HD people are telling me it get pretty hot back.

Short of using self-tapping screws does anybody have any suggestions. I have thought about emblem/trim tape by 3M but they, 3M, are very proud of that stuff. $$$$$

Thanks,

Unless the tape is stronger now than it was 5-6 years ago, heat and bumps are going to break it loose. We tried a variety of different velcro with the double-sided tape (including 3M brand). Nothing held it in place for any significant period of time.

We have a luggage rack that has 4 screws going threw the lid, using those screws are the only way that has ever worked for us.

Nah, same crap for glue. I know the screws you're talking about.

I emailed Saddleman to get some thoughts from them. 'Til I hear back from them think I'm going to run by the big box hardware store tomorrow and pick up some self-tapping 1/4 or 3/8 stainless screws and washers. See if that will do the trick. Might not tackle til I hear back from Saddleman.

Will post what they tell me.

If you are talking about the rear trunk door and not about the tour box, just remove the plastic cover on inside of door (four screws) and drill and bolt the door organizer to it (2 nuts and bolts) and put it back on.

If tour box, I also use the bolts for luggage rack to hold organizer to tour box lid.

Thanks Dennis,

That's exactly what I'm talking about, the rear trunk area. Finishing up installing a Wards fan system and a Jagg oil cooler this mor'n. Will slide to the back and work on the trunk liner.

THANKS for the great idea.

I did the same thing when I got the trike. Took the Harley organizer off my Ultra and installed it on the trike using the bolts & nuts from the luggage rack. I think I had to use longer bolts.

Need to take this conversation from the tour-Pac down to the trunk. Having problems with the organizer on the trunk door.

Have received some great ideas that I'm going to try. Also got an email from Saddlemen today indicating they were sending me a much better heavy duty Velcro. Will advise.

Like I indicated, I emailed Saddleman and they contacted me about my problem wanting my address. Got a package from them today. Contained a large roll of 3" adhesive Velcro. OMG! You could pull a semi with this stuff. !!

Used Dennis' suggestion, pulled the lid and put screws thru the lid. Also use some of the Velcro Saddleman sent me. Ought not have any more problems.

I used heavy duty 3m tape to mount my mud flaps way back when & the have never come off. Didn't want to screws through my fender. That would have work on that trunk lid also.
