Rotella T

Has anyone sorted out the Rotella issue ( blue jug ) going to change oil. I have a gallon of Rotella( blue jug ) that I bought a year ago. Don't see spec on it. Looked on a Mobile 1 and none there either???. Is it safe to use in our Wings?

The JP Pag Spyder yes! Love that bike. I am referring to the synthetic Rotella BLUE JUG ... I don't want to loos my clutch. I have 3/4 gallon of Mobile 1 I may go with that for now. Just buy another QT.

Mobil 1 has to be 4T Racing 10W40 with a Red Label in Qts [JASO Rated on Label]..... Read previous oil threads.... FYI

Not all Rotella T Synthetic is marked as [JASO Rated on Label] Just saying I want proof for my investment!!

John, I use Rotella T6, just read the print on the back looking for JASO,MA spec. If you see this spec, then oil is clutch safe.

I have used Rotella T-6 Synt since my 1st oil change on my trike.
When Bob pointed out that the JASO/MA is not on the jug anymore, I'm changing to the Mobil 1 4T Racing 10W40 red label, which he recommends.
It might still be ok but I don't want to take a chance so it's Mobil I.

I'm getting ready for a long trip, and I used Shell Rotella T6. Have used <span class="highlight">Mobil</span> 1 4T before and only perceivable difference was cost of the product. Took a couple test rides to set fluid levels. Clutch feels no different than it did 23,000 miles ago.

Was at Wallmart today so I checked out the Rotella T6 in the blue jug. Looked on the back and there was, at the end of the other specs - JASO,MA. Stopped at O'Reilly Auto and the Rotella blue jug also had the JASO,MA on it.

Maybe Shell has corrected their so called in house printing problem.... already changed and happy I did!!

Got this answer today from SHELL
Rotella T6 meets the JASO MA and MA2 requirements for use in a motorcycle wet clutch.

I couldn't find that on any Rotella T-6 so that is why I went to Mobil 1 4T.
Just doesn't want to screw up my Trike.

All i would tell you is why would you even want to take a chance if you are not sure, you can always use it for something else. a $20.00 investment to buy the right oil and know it is the right stuff, think about it.

My tranny shifts the best with the rotella. All others feel motchy. I have tried a few before I switched 5 years ago on a recommendation from a friend that swears by it. The most expensive is not always the best.

Wife and I were in the Walmart here, so while she was doing her thing, I wandered over to the oil section to see what, if anything, they had that would work in the trike. Believe it or not, Rotella T6 was the only oil they had on the shelf that was <font color="#333333">JASO,MA rated.<br />

Only one <span class="highlight">Mobil</span> 1 is rated for the Wet Clutch / Jaso,MA / <span class="highlight">Mobil</span> 1 4T Full Synthetic Racing in 10W40 with the RED Label made for bikes.... other <span class="highlight">Mobil</span> 1's are not Rated for Wet Clutch Use. Just FYI...

I have used Rotella T in my trike and also <span class="highlight">Mobil</span> One. NO DIFFERENCE that I can see....except as noted, the cost. I have 79,000 on my 2005 with 2010 MotorTrike kit. Runs like a 21 jewel watch. I DO like GTX for the smooth clutch shift.

According to Shell. Any oil that has no additives is ok. I have used Castrol GTX for years. As long as it does not have the gear and say for better gas mileage and fuel efficiency, or anti friction additives. It is scary.
