'97 1500 se with ring of fire. one side lights up, one side doesn't. are bulbs replaceable, how hard to get apart, any other info appreciated-dave

If it's like mine, you can't replace the bulbs. The lights are LEDs on strips glued into the covers. If one side is working and one not, you probably have a loose or broken wire on that side. The ones I have are soldered in to the end of each strip. Remove the bolts holding your covers on and look inside the edge where the wire(s) go. Check the solder joint and the wire where it's attached. I,ve had to re-solder one side of mine and re-route the wires.

Make sure if U redo them U do not ground them to the forks!!!!!!!! run a wire and ground them to the frame or to another ground wire......

Sounds wrong BUT try pressing on them in different spots. I take it these worked before and not a new install. Also wiggle wires you may get lucky. If these are colored they are LED as Jim said if the are Orange they may be the old style of bulbs in a tube but the same rules apply No bulb replacement .

thanks guys. i bought the wing used, and the previous owner(an older gentleman) had never used them-didn't even know what they were. i will try your suggestions. so, i can replace the whole strip of lights in one shot? or do i have to buy a set(both sides)? i know they've got to be pricey-question is-how pricey? can i just take them off the wheel without it looking butchered? thanks-dave

Dave, the strip is usually made into the chrome cover or it's in a chrome piece thats attached to the cover. The ones I have are built into the rotor cover and have Yel/Blue/Red LEDs. They are about 250-300 dollars per set for the whole thing. The other ones on the chrome "half ring" that attaches are about 150 dollars, all depending on where you get them..Look at these links. They shoulbe like one or the other..
