I'm looking for a drivers backrest for our 16 TG. I want to be able to fold it down flat on my seat and to stay lying flat while my wife gets on. Harley dealer tells me theirs won't do that. I don't want to pull it out and then re-insert, if you have to do that several times a day that'll get to be a PIA. Anyone have anything that they are using or recommendations? Thanks

Mine is HD. It's adjustable lever/cable allows the driver to adjust to there liking. It also folds forward allowing the passenger to get on, doesn't lay flat, but flat enough to allow pass on with no problem. Sorry I don't know the part #

Update

HD adjustable mount kit; # 52596-09A

HD backrest ; # 52423-09A

mount kit is $ 211.00

backrest is. $ 119.00

I believe if you have the stationary back rest now, it will fit the mount kit.

+1 on this, this one folds forward, It's spring loaded, being able to adjust your backrest while In motion Is priceless, several different positions available on this system.

When the HD one folds forward will it stay there on it's own or does it have to be held down while she's getting on?

Another note on the adjustable backrest. I had one on the 14 TG.

It was very easy to memove the backrest, a simple push of a button and the backrest slips right out, easy peasy...unlike the fixed backrest...

i went fixed this time because I don't use the backrest when the wife rides...

Thanks guys, I think I'll have to come up with my own design. I'm afraid taking it in and out 5 or 6 times in a day of riding eventually Murphys law will set in and it will get dropped and poke a hole in the seat or hit the tank or??

You might try Mustang Seats. They have a full line of backrests. I had a Mustang seat with their rider back rest on my Roadking and it folded forward flat on the seat. No springs, etc. It was great as I could swing my leg over the seat to get on the bike and before I sat down I would reach behind and flip the back rest up. Just the reverse for getting off - stand up, flip the back rest down and then swing my leg over the seat. I don't know if they now make their back rests to work with Harley seats but I know they expanded their product line.
