Replacing Ultra windshield

So I ordered a shorter shield. When I replace the stock one is there a gasket or other cushioning that needs replacing between the shield and fairing mount? Don't want to crack the new shield so how tight do I make the three allen bolts? I'm guessing just hand tight? Thanks guys

My HD short, smoked shield came with some thin cushioning tape to apply on one side. Tighten screws gently (or until they strip, then back off a little!)

How short a shield did you order?? The first one I put on my scoot was a 4". too short! I'm 5'10" and the 4" shield directed the wind directly in my eyes. Put that windshield on wife's trike (5"6") and it was perfect. I ordered a 6" from JP Cycles, just right!

My stock shield was 12" which I was forced to look through instead of over and it caused some sight distortion. The new one is a dark smoke color from JP Cycles and its 8". Looks cool, diverts the wind up and over my head and provides a good view of the road. I'm 6'1" so at 8" it is about equal to your position with a 6" shield....
