removing kurykan shark gills

Has anyone tried to remove their Kurykan shark grills? The chrome is coming off of mine and I want to replace them. Used heat gun and can not pull them off. Anyone out there have any suggestions? Thanks.

Use waxed dental floss along with the heat gun. Heat it up pretty warm and a long strand of dental floss and use a "sawing" motion.
