Rake

I just bought a suzuki VL800 trike with a Lehman trike kit. I noticed the first time I road it around the block it is hard to turn. Does a rake kit really help and what is the best rake kit to use? Is it something I can install myself?

Welcome to Trike Talk and congratulations on your trike. Yes, a rake kit really helps on the steering. The problem may be finding one that will fit your trike. Talk to Bazooka, if he doesn't have one that will fit, he may know where you can get one. You will not meet a nicer guy. It may be something you can install yourself, it just depends on how good a mechanic you are. It is certainly not impossible anyway.

Hi Ben, welcome to TrikeTalk! I have the Suzuki C50 (supposedly the same as the VL800), also with a Lehman kit. I was told they can't be raked (several years ago, so maybe something has changed), but as others said Bazooka would know. On the chance that it still can't be, I found that adding risers helped a LOT with the difficult steering! No idea why, but it was a "better than nothing" solution which fortunately worked for me.

Good luck, and enjoy your new trike!! ThumbUp
