Looking hard at buying a 2008 Gold Wing with a Lehman Monarch II kit - our first trike. We've been on 2 wheels for more years than I want to let on.
We asked the owner over the phone if it had a rake kit on it. He said yes - he thought it was a 35 degree rake. Well, we didn't say anything as we knew THAT was wrong. When we see it next weekend how can we tell if it has a rake kit installed and how much rake? Thanks for your replies and advice.:

The stock GL1800 triple tree is black. If you look between the front fender and the steering stem, up under the headlight area, you can see the bottom tree. If it is raw aluminum color, it has been changed. Without another stock motorcycle and a degree level (available at Home Depot) it will be hard to determine the degree tree you have at hand.

welcome aboard Paws. Glad you joined us.

Thanks for all the responses and we will definitely be checkng the color of that bottom tree!

If the seller lets you ride it and it steers one-hand-easy around corners then it has a rake kit. If it is difficult, then it doesn't. That riding test won't tell you the degree of rake, just the presence or absence.
