My installer and others has told me that when installing reverse on a harley it is normal to hear a chatter sometimes when taking off in 1st gear.I know there are some harley trikers out there that has experience in this field, any and all help will be appreciated.Mine sounds bad sometimes, not always but a scary sound. Thanks in advance.

I have the Champion reverse on my 2007 FLHX trike. I don't hear any chattering in first gear, nor is there anything abnormal about the forward gears. To put the thing in reverse, you have to have the tranny in neutral and then move the reverse gear lever back. The only thing I've noticed is that if the tranny gears haven't stopped, there's a grinding getting it into reverse. Putting the tranny first into first gear, depressing the clutch, and then back into neutral and then into reverse will alleviate that except when the tranny is real hot.

Thanks Ron,I can not believe that it is normal. My problem is what do I do to fix it,or basically where do I go local.
