Question 2 Papa Zook

Papa,
In the picture next to your posts, it appears that you have a sidecar attached to a trike'd out cycle.. (am I seeing this correctly???) I'm only think'n, at this time, but I'd like to also add a S/C on my TRIKED out 1800 Goldwing (roadsmith) if possible... How does a S/C affect the ride and steer'nnn??

I'm assume'n it will low'rrr the gas mileage, BUT that's only expected, cause of the added weight..
Thanks for any info, you can give, to this Massachusetts boy, that wants to stay busy, during the long winter months.. (I'll be putt'n her into hibernation next week,)

Looks like a Hannigan TriCar - not sure if they still make those. I was going to buy one back in 1995 of so for my Wing. At that time they were considering putting some type of cooling system in the sidecar. I told them if they ever got it to work, I was a buyer. Unfortunately, they never did.

Doubtful something like this could be added to your current RoadSmith - but, hey, who knows.

As for the ride and handling - since it is much like a trike (built in sidecar) I found little difference. You just have to get use to that extra car on the right.

You can google Hannigan TriCar for additional pictures.

It is a 2007 GL1800 Hannigan TriCar. Hannigan built a few GL1500 TriCars and a few GL1800s. Most went to Japan to a Hannigan dealer there. They are not a bolt-on kit like a conventional sidecar, but utilize a purpose built Hannigan TriCar trike frame, independent suspension and their GTL sidecar body that is modified and mated to their GL1800 trike body. Air-conditioning was available as an option and this one has it. This is 7.5 feet wide, same width as my Ford Excursion but steers and turns as easily as any trike, nothing at all like steering a sidecar.

LQQks, like I have some homework to do here.... I really honestly, have no need for a S/C except that it's cool and different.
so whether i'ts smart :geek: to spend the extra money, of just a waste of $$................. BUT I guess it goes back to TRIKE'nnn out my Goldwing, was it a waste of money (cause two wheels , and I didn't have any problems) and is TRIK'n any smart'rrrrr.
