Yep. I have been thru the whole process up to and including the P2 Vision+. Flew a little one indoors during the winter and spent the Spring fixing divots in the walls. LOL. Got a P1.1.1 and fell into the money pit. Upgraded motors and PCB"s and went into FPV. On the P1 that was fairly complex process. I ended up trading it for a rifle. Then I traded the rifle for a FC40. Spent a winter getting video and such. Traded that. Got a cheep P2 Vision+. Then came all the hoo-haw about registering. I took the camera off and now I fly for fun. I do like the 30 minute flight times with the P2 battery. Still have that one. And an Eye One Xtreme and a couple of little ones.

Got a Yuneec Q500+ with a 1080p camera..fly's about 15 minutes on a Batt got a couple. Mostly take it out for the grand kids they love flying it. Paid about 1200 before last Xmass would of bought some nice shinny for the trike..lol

So if you take camera(s) off you don't need to register?
I'm interested in the hobby, but "Big Brother" has me concerned due to being forced to "register" your vessel.
I can understand the need to keep commercial aviation safe as well, so its a tough issue to understand in its totalitarity...:xzqxz:

A Senate bill to reauthorize the FAA contains provisions related to the manufacture of drones that could apply to home-built drones, as well as those produced by large consumer manufacturers. The bill in question, titled the Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization Act of 2016, contains provisions that would have a significant impact on technology innovation by all manufacturers of small drones. With no size or weight threshold, the bill, if adopted, would add new and burdensome manufacturing, testing and approval restrictions to even the tiniest drones. And, most disturbing, these restrictions could apply to hobby-built remote controlled aircraft or student-built drones, effectively prohibiting them from operating outdoors. The legislation could also retroactively ground already-built models that didn’t meet the manufacturing standards called for by the proposed legislation.

I just saw this posted a few days ago on another site I frequent.
