Pulling a trailer with the freewheeler

I am needing to pull my Jazzy electric wheelchair behind my freewheeler. I have looked at Harbor Freight and Northern tool.
They have 12" tires and say not to pull over 45 mph. Has anybody had any experience with these trailers? Loews has a nice 4X6 trailer. I just wonder if that is too big for the Freewheeler. My wheelchair weighs 200lbs.
I know about the "loosing of my warranty." I just want to know about how safe it is to pull a trailer at highway speeds and what trailer would be recommended.

It will be no different than pulling with a Tri Glide. Only issue as of right now is a plug and play harness for the trike to trailer lights.

Lots of people using the HFT trailers. Most upgrade the bearings though.

I went to the Harley Dealer and they sold me a Harness that they said was made for the Freewheeler

I've had two of the HF trailers, one with 8" & one with 12" tires. Both pulled great behind the trike & 2-wheeler. I think that 45 mph statement is just their corporate trying to reduce their liability. None of the tires that came with the trailers said to limit to 45 mph. I did re-pack the wheel bearings with good bearing grease, then set about at my usual 70 mph runs...

I don't think you'd go wrong with a HF trailer ( a little cheaper than Northern Tool )

I have a trailer that my friends built me. It was built the exact width of the Free so it will track great and pull great. Frame is small steel tubing and floored with aluminum diamond plate, both to keep weight down but still be strong. Tilt deck for loading and unloading my Jazzy/Hoveround. It is out getting a few minor changes done and getting painted Vivid Black to match my Free. Once I get it back I will post pics for you.

Also, my dealer told me that the hitch and wiring they installed for me will need to be removed before bringing it in for any warranty work or HD will void my warranty. I didn't care about that, I am more interested in being independent and mobile than warranty work.

So a Harley dealer sold you a trailer wiring harness. Interesting as you said a trailer hitch voids warranty.

Not only will it void the warranty, but the MoCo is even glad to sell you items to help you void the warranty. Nice.

It's a long story for most manufacturers and their dealer network.
For example, Honda may reject warranty claims for motor/drive line problems if the bike has been triked. Yet, there are many Honda dealers that sell/install trike conversions!
Go figure!!!!

Bob, There may be legislation designed to protect the consumer but if a Harley dealer finds a significant modification that can allow them to electronically "black ball" your trike, then all of the consumer protections seem to blow off into the wind. Harley has deep pockets relative to any individual and if you have a trike needing warranty repair and it has been black balled, I am not sure what amount of effort would have to be expended to get the work done and covered under warranty? I have carefully read the MOCO ESP I purchased (line by line) for my trike and basically the contract reads that any modifications that affect functioning of the stock bike are grounds for not covering a particular repair that they deemed was affected by the modifications done whether it is done by ourselves or a franchised Harley dealer. Additionally, the consumer then needs to seek arbitration in the State they are seeking remedy (unless it meets Class standards) and the mechanisms for dispute resolution seem to get a bit fuzzy and likely vary from State to State. I think I would just take off the hitch when going to a dealer that is not supportive of mods with the "implied" wink and a nod that goes on all of the time.

The conversion kit might be made for a Honda... But not ''Made'' by Honda....
A wire harness made for a Harley... But not ''Made'' by Harley....
Therein is the Warrantee gray area.......

This one, the HF Tag-along, I built for the Valkyrie trike. It was a little nose-up on the 'Wing, so I changed it back to 8" tires, 5.70 x 8. My Kwik-Kamp camper also has the 5.70 x 8 tires, makes keeping a spare easier. I plan on adding 18" to the tongue soon.
