Press to talk switch

I have a Mic-mutes system installed, but the press to talk sw under the left handle bar does not work. Tried all the usual stuff like sw lub, etc. Can anyone give me another idea, please.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that the CB transmit switch you are referring to? If so I'd suggest you get a fresh can of silicone spray lube and just flood that area while working the switch. The actual contacts are way back in there and it will take a bit of luck to get some spray where it needs to be. I've had some success with the flooding but it's just one way. The only real way to fix this is to remove the switch and clean it. That is a MAJOR task.

Try electrical contact cleaner spray from Radio Shack. I dont have a CB, so I wired that switch as a PTT for the intercom. protect the paint well, flood the area while working the switch and enough may get back there to clean any crud or corrosion ;built up. Worked for me, has been OK for the last 2 years. I dread having to take it apart to clean it.

Gold Rush is right, it IS the CB talk sw, but with a Mic-mutes, it acts as a on and off sw for the pilots intercom system. The Mic-mutes comes with a on and off sw for the passenger under the left rear arm rest.

I will try flooding the sw AGAIN with special sw cleaner bought from Radio Shack, but I don't have much confidence that it will do any good. I tried looking up taking the sw apart in the manual and I can't find anything that shows how to get it apart.

You won't find anything about the switch in the manual because the entire assembly is sold as a unit. It's a MAJOR job to get that sucker apart. Unless you are ready for several hours of tedious disassembly and reassembly flushing it the best choice.

Again, I'd recommend spray silicone instead of contact cleaner. The silicone will clean and soften the lube Honda uses. It's nasty stuff and causes all sorts of issues. Over the years I think I have now cleaned it out of all my controls.
