What comments do you get Neg. or positive ones about the trike ?

Is dem training wheels?
How old ya gota be to get one ?
I had one when I was a kid then I grew up.
How much did u pay for it?
I hear they tip over real easy.
Can I have a ride?
Can you take the rear wheels off after you learn to ride it?
What's wrong with you?
What can u add to the list

I'll also chime in as to no negative comments either.

Besides being asked the usual "How much does it Cost" question, I've already had at least three people go nuts over the fact that it's a Valkyrie Trike. All of them said that they've seen Harleys and Wings, but never a Valkyrie. :)

You mean other than the voices in my head? :blahblah::gah::laugh:

I haven't been riding mine long enough to hear much other than the very rude and presumptious "How much did it cost?" To which my only answer so far has been, "You don't wanna know"--translation: "You're not gonna know."

My favorite is "How come you don't ride a real motorcycle?" I usually answer that "When I got home with the Harley, I still wanted to ride so I took the trike out." Or the other way around - "I put on a few hunded miles on this so far today, I am on my way home to fire up the Harley."
That usually gets them.

Most have the number one question listed, (how much was it).

My second most asked is: Why do I need 3 wheels? I guess they like looking at my X-ray.

So far to date...

How do you back that 'thang' up?

Yes, How much did it cost?

That's one sharp ride man.

I was in a liquor store last night, one guy came and said to me... "You're cheating".. I replied, "don't tell my wife" and left.

Did you build it yourself?

How do they corner?

Ever had the back wheel come up on ya?

That's about it.

I was surprised because I was ready to catch a lot of flank for riding what I refer to as my "old man's bike", but the crew I hang with (some are hard core bikers) love it. Most questions where referring to the ride and handling.

I for one have never had anyone say anything derogatory. On the contrary, I get tons of admiring comments about it, tons of questions about the handling and ride, and a fair share of questions about the price. I handle that by telling them the MSRP price (all public information) on the Fat Boy and the Champion kit. And then I tell them that anything personalized beyond that is up to the owner and trike builder and obviously changes the individual price. I've never had anyone who wasn't satisfied w/ that answer.

I was stopped for gas a few days ago and one of those "ernest young man" types in a Prius was asking about mileage and if it had catalytic converters, etc. (Yes, that kind of "ernest young man"

After the eco-questions, as I was mounting up he asks, "Where are the seatbelts?" Me- "It's a motorcycle." He just looked confused like he didn't understand the answer as I motored away.

Evidently this guy didn't have a clue!!!!!! Sounds like something a yuppie would say from the west side of Manhattan. 'where are the seat belts,.' geezzzzzz
:groan:

OTOH, Goldie and I rode out to the beach today. There's a stretch of beach road that has been closed ever since Hurricane Ivan hit the Gulf coast in 2004, and it was just re-opened a couple of weeks ago, so I wanted to check it out.

I got SO MANY smiles and "thumbs-up" from other bikers and from just people standing on the side of the road, it was hard to stop grinning! :D

"I love it when a plan comes together."

Hi Guys,
You will not believe it but some triker really do have seat belts on the back of their trike. A couple who used to be in KelticWings had an 1800 Lehman with a seat belt on the back to strap his lady in. evidently he didn't strap her in tightly enough because she managed to escape...several times:eek:hyes:

Like Rich, I also seem to get a lot of attention riding a Valk Trike. I really don't mind all the questions at the gas stops, but my wife gets bored. When she starts to frown, I pass out a business card from the trike manufacturer and hit the road. I like to look out the coffee shop window and watch people looking it over. Some even get down on their hands and knees to look underneath! On the price question, I usually tell people the cost of the kit.....you supply the bike, or sometimes I just say "it cost me about as much as your car did"...I do get a lot of "older" bike riding couples seriously asking about handling, stability, etc., saying that will be our next ride. For the most part the people I've met are pretty positive, (along with some ribbing from my friends).

Ribbing from your friend. I did too I always bring up the rear , until the HARLEY 2 wheel guys asked me to lead once ( notice I said only once ) When we stopped they said, God you go fast thu turns. I said yea this is first time I didn't have to ride my brakes all day. <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />

So far, nothing negative except that the price is too high.

Here's a list of the most common questions:
What is that?
How much horse power?
Did you make it yourself?
How much does it cost?
Where did you buy it?
How fast does it go?
You can fit two people in there?
Can I take a picture?

What comments do you get Neg. or positive ones about the trike ?

I think that trikes have been around long enough in most parts of the country that most of the childish comments have died down, face to face at least. I still see negative comments on line but seldom hear them.

As others have noted, people are still curious about the cost...

stopped for gas an when i went to pay, this voluptuous pretty clerk :) says WOW that looks like fun,an i said nows a nice time to find out  well at least i got gas, best comments i've heard

The number of people that come up to me and say something like "nice Rig" amazes me! I have many people every week take pictures of it because of the trailer. Some people say "Can you drive the car?" It has been like being some sort of celebrity! When I buy gas everyone on the lot comes over to look. We was driving from Savannah last month and at least a dozen cars pull up along side and give you the thumbs up!

Normally the questions i hear are, Is that a buick engine, how fast will it go, are the rockets real, how fast will it go, where are the handlebars, did you build it;)

The common statement I get.... with a smile on thier face is: "Nice (or beautiful) bike, Man....very nice"! Never had a negative comment muttered, at least to my face, but I do know some who think they are a joke. Manly crap about only 2 wheels or four... nuthin' in-between. But you know what!?!?!.... I don't shive a git!

The only negative responses I've ever gotten were from my former 2 wheeled riding 'buddies', who can't come to grips with the fact that I went this way. Comments like "It's a car", or else "I'd quit ridding if I had to go that way". But you know what, they never venture more than 100 miles from home, and can't understand why in the world, or how we would travel 5000 or more miles alone without a support vehicle and crew going along. I just smile and tell them about my next planned adventure and watch the looks of disbelief on their face. Bottom line is they want to, but are too cheap to get up off the bucks, and it's not because they can't afford it.

After 10 years 5 different bike and a 100k on a Voyager kits the most ask queiston is about the training wheel and i tell them when i learn to ride i will take them off:Shrug:

While 1F/2R trikes do draw lots of [positive] comments, they are virtually invisible when compared to the 2F/1R Grinnall Scorpion 111. I have owned and ridden/driven both types.

My story is similar to SCALP HUNTERS. One of my best riding buddies even told another one he no longer wanted to ride with me if I was going to ride a trike. Oh well it is what it is. I wanted one the fisrt time I saw one and have never regreted triking my Goldwing.A week after I got it back my first trip was 2200 miles.Don't worry bout what they think just wave as you go by and callem when ya get back.RIDE SAFE

As a Stallion owner, I get the following questions:
Is it a car or a bike
How much does it cost, I usually say as much as a good car
You mean it has a/c & heat
Is it a production model
What type of engine do you have
