Poll: Are high gas prices making you drive your trike more, less or doesn't matter?

Don't think i bought that trike to save gas...to save gas would have bought one of them there scooooter's.."ONLY A BIKER KNOWS WHY A DOG HANGS IT'S HEAD OUT THE WINDOW"

VANCE IN GA
.

Truck - 18 MPG. Was a daily driver when gas was $1.25, now it pretty much sits in the garage until something wants to be hauled. It's paid off, and I use it enough to justify keeping it.

Wife's Honda Element - about 25MPG. Not very good for a 4-banger, but it does have the aerodynamics of a brick. Luckily she doesn't have but a 2 or 3 mile commute.

Geo Prism - 31MPG at the last time I checked. My cummute car, 28 miles one way to work.

Trike - 35 MPG, usually 2 up, drops to about 25-28 pulling a loaded Bunkhouse and running 70 - 75 mph on trips, just over 30mpg if I can keep under 3,000 rpm. Goes to work occasionally, but mostly on rides 2-up, and longer trips.

Harley (2 wheels) - 50 mpg, a little more if I keep the speed under 65. I take this to work every chance I get, and 75% of the rides without the wife along.

Strangely enough,(or maybe not) the trike and the Harley both have gotten
about 7,000 miles per year since we got Her Purpleness 4 years ago. I have always put that on the Harley, but Gloria didn't ride as much when she had The Blue Trike. We now take more longer trips together on the trike. Can't wait until we can retire and rack up some serious miles.

Would agree that while it's no fun having the price continue to go up and up, still need to do the things that must get done, and right now a new car/truck is not in the plans, thus ride on.

As for the trike, there is no way I plan to alter the trips that we have set up for this riding season. Just too much fun and enjoy meeting all the folks that we have met while on the road.

Actually with the crappy weather I am still running on the $2.65 gas I put in it back in Oct. Still gonna ride it.:)

GL1800 Motor Trike....42 mpg
2007 Maxima ....28mpg
2004 F-150....18mpg
2005 Nissan Z Car...25 mpg
2002 Honda Magna 57 mpg

I still ride the trike most of the time. I intend to ride or drive wherever and whenever I desire but I don't take a car or truck unless I have a need to.

The gas prices are high here in Wisconsin but I'll still drive my Trike, Boat, Cars and Truck.
Summer is the time to enjoy and gas isn't going to stop the fun this year. Next year, who knows!!

I always ride the trike whenever I can. I have a scooter that gets 80 mpg but the wife rides that to work so I am forced to take the trike :D What a punishment.:D

i ride my trike just as much now as i ever did..as far as driving my car. iv'e got a 97 lincoln town car thats getting 25 mpg so when it's ugly weather and i need to go somewhere it does'nt break me to drive it. only thing that hurts is when i fill that car up it takes me about 75 dollars. now my work van is a different story. it gets 6 to 8 mpg. and i normally go threw a 150.00 bucks worth of gas a day. glad i'm not feeding that thing.

My Harley trike takes premium - prices are $4.27. Regular is $3.17

Gas prices do not make me ride the trike more - we simply love riding it. Unless we are flying long distances during the riding seasons, we almost always take our trike on trips.

Oven the winter, we make those plans. Already have about 4000 miles this riding season. Have a few upcoming trips planned.

My local Sheets now has non ethanol 90 octane at $4.30/ gallon. Just one pump. I ride all night this time of year and yes I will continue to ride until they box me up and send my remains to Arlington National Cemetery.
Wow, if I could get non ethanol in my area, especially at $4.30 per gallon - then, that would definitely be the way to go

In Payson, AZ
Regular $3.45-3.50

Premium $4.05-4.10

Diesel $3.85-3.90

We can't get non-ethanol here.

For those of you who don't have their location in their Avatar , please list your town and State with your gas prices.

While the price of gas pisses me off it does not deter me in any way from riding.
PFWiz - how are you? It's been sometime. And, how is your wife doing.

We are headed to Milwaukee on July 25th = Harley birthday bash. Taking the ferry from Muskegon. On the way back, we are headed around the UP - Escanabe, Alpena area.

Almost 16,000 on the trike now.

Age and infirmaties of both Spyder and owner keep me off the road, gas prices keep me from taking long trips. Gas prices in Central Utah are 3.55 reg, 3.75 mid grade, and 3.95-4,05 premium. Non ethanol is 4.05-4.10. If I drive up to Provo (Utah county) I can get regular for 3.27, mid grade (88-89 octane) 3.37. Fuel prices in general are a sore point with me.
Kevin, where in the New Orleans area do you live? I grew up in the Littlr Farms (now River Ridge) area.

Living up in Oregon we just roll with the ups/down with these crazy prices of gas…..we have slowed down a little BUT wont’t stop riding!
