Pipes pipes pipes

Well put the stock mufflers back on with the Rush header pipe, sounds pretty good but I'm not all-in just yet. I'm gonna listen and check other mufflers while at a Rally the end of next week so I can hear before I make a mistake and buy them.

The stock mufflers don't work well with true duals and no cat, The left muffler on the stock is baffled much more to even out the back pressure on the stock system. I had to drill mine out to even things out. But the sound was too raspy, So i went to rush slip- ons with a 175 baffle.

I got the Vance & Hines system with Power Duals headers, the Tri-glide slip-ons and the "Fuelpak" ECM plug-in for my 2011 TG. Comes with "competition connectors" essentially a dummy plug that disconnects the oxygen sniffers but holds them in place under the right side cover. Installed everything myself which took about 8 hours total. Everything fits right, is well made, the Fuelpak was easy to program and it works and sounds great. Power boost is very noticeable, runs cooler (I have a hard mounted temp gauge), shift gears a lot less on hills, use 6th gear a lot more often than before. I'm a fan.

Almost a ditto here except with the 09 I did not change the headers. Not real loud but snow birding to the 55 and over park it's the perfect setup. ThumbUp Installed the V&H intake also_One advantage with the V&H Triglide slipons is the extra ground clearance.:10:

Is anyone having their trikes dyno'd after these changes?
Just curious as there aren't many trike dynos out there.
If so, what did they charge AND how long did it take?
After I had a trike kit put on my wifes Sportster 1200 and used V&H short shots and HD Heavy Breather it backfired a lot from the original dyno setup when we put Cycle shack slipons on it and SE oval cleaner. Local dealer without a trike dyno took two trips there, had to leave it and still can't set it without a dyno. Called local HD dealer with a trike dyno and they have a FIXED $300 charge! 3 3/4 hrs labor! Last time we had it dyno'd when a two-wheeler it took about an hour. I got the old HD service line #27 about how each guy doesn't do it as fast or is as experienced. Seemed a bit of a rip off. It is a fixed rate BTW, non-negotiable?
These HD dealers are experts on pissing you off!

I'm very leary about changing anything on my 2012 HD trike exhaust system.

KindaOldTriker, where abouts is Hartville, Ohio? If I asked before, sorry, forgot the answer?

What are you saying, are you havin a hard time finding a good dyno tuner for thr trike? Or are you sayin that the one you used for the sporty was not experienced?

I have found that if they just do a factory down load a give you a numbers read out, it only takes an hour. Not the way to really go in my book, but I got a lot to learn.

There are different types of tuners one can purchase but guys like Msocko3,Wizard and FLTR will be along to fill ya in.

If your not happy with your trike, don't be afraid to change it to suit you.

Later eighty80.

3'' Rineharts and Rinehart True Duals on the Limited. This type system has been on my last 4 Harleys, I have enjoyed the way they look as well as the sound, not to quiet and not to loud. Little less mellow than the V&H, but very pleasant to my ears.

Vance & Hines Deluxe trike slip-ons & V&H True Duals on the TriGlide nice mellow tone, maybe just a little quieter than the RH's, probably due to less 'crack' in the exhaust sound.

One thing that I appreciate in both these systems is that you have the ability to kinda ''tone'' the sound down with the use of the throttle. But if you spank it, you will not sneak up on anyone.

For those who have DK Lift kit, has anyone had success using the Rush True Dual 7017TR?
I have heard there was fitment issue. Any work around to make fit with the DK lift kit?

Ok, so after talking to Rush, they are not familiar with the DK lift kit. I spoke with two people at Rush, and they said the company policy is not to make any custom fit options to after market products. So the dealer has installed the Vance and Hines Power Duals with the DK lift kit, so that is the route I am going. Too bad, because I really thought the Rush with my Rush Big Louies would have been the perfect match. There was no way I was giving up the lift kit though.

If you look at the pictures of both brands of lift kits, they look the same dimensionally to me, so one doesn't fit, then the other probably won't either. Again just MHO.

Just another one to think about is the V&H Monster rounds or ovals. Great low sound & not too loud for touring, but has a good bark when ya get on it ! 4".

Just wanted to stop back to this thread to give an update. I had posted earlier about wanting Rush True Dual with my Rush Big Louie's but could not fit the Rush true duels with the DK lift kit. <br />
So we ended up going to the Vance and Hines Power Dual Header, Tri glide extension kit, and the Rush Big Louie's with 2" baffle. Now after 1,000 miles I can say, WOW! Really cooled down the temps noticed at driver and rider seating. Sound is great. Maybe just a bit loud when you get on it, but no complaints, just some riding behind say it is louder than I believe it is. For the wife and I we can easily talk without head sets at all speeds. I have not dyno tested so really do not know the true gain in torque, or hp, but really does not matter. I feel the power gain through all ranges from stock.

I can now pass at 70 mph with no worries, or having to down shift. I am very happy with the outcome, but still wonder if the Rush True Duels would have reduced heat even more.... Oh well, I was not going to give up the Lift kit, so exhaust mod complete and I am happy.

I think you made the right choice, you wouldn't have seen much gain with the true dual system. Since Harley changed the exhaust system in 09 the advantage of cooling the passenger isn't realized like it was in the previous model years with the old style exhaust. With the old style the TD rear pipe would curve and exit on the left side, this kept if away from the passengers right leg. Now the TD rear pipe still exits the right side just as it would with the factory exhaust.

Well let me put another choice out there. I went with the Rush ceramic coated true duals, coated inside and out, HD free flow air cleaner system and 4" RCX mufflers with some nice eclipse end caps and they look and sound awesome. A few folks I ride with say they sound like an old school V8 motor cruising down the road. Wife and I use the intercom system and don't have any trouble talking or listening to music but you can hear the exhaust note.

old biker/ new triker
just put trike kit on my ultra 110 s.e. put rhinehart true duals and rhinehart 4inch muffs. wish I had spent the money sooner! best sound I have ever had. cooled of the wifes right foot too.

Vance and Hines dual header pipes with the Trike Deluxe slip-ons. To me, they have great low rumble sound and also provide a little additional ground clearance.
