We are going to the Deadwood 3 wheel Rally and are contemplating going to Colorado on the way home. It will be the long way but why not. Has anyone ridden a TriGlide up Pikes Peak. We’re seriously considering trying. We lived in Colorado Springs for 3 years in the 80’s. Tried taking our Datsun to the summit and it couldn’t make it. Looking for advice from anyone who has done this on their trike.

Sure, a couple times. No problem . . . well except for the flatlanders who drive soooooo slow.

Our Datsun was Soooooo slow. Wife would slouch down in the seat to not be seen and embarrassed. One particular hill if we got stopped at the light and didn’t have a good speed built up Datsun couldn’t maintain 35 in a 55.

Ohio flat lander but at least we can drive in snow unlike many others from non-snow climates. Saw so many wrecks with just a dusting of snow when we lived there

Most of the nimrods have AWD/4WD..And they think that it melts ice….So they have a rude awakening when they slide into the vehicle in front..😳..

did it on 2wheels many years ago & on the Tri a couple yrs ago. probably done now ,they were building a big center at the top at least it is paved all the way.. when we did the 2 wheeler it was not paved all the way safe travels.

Ok I’ll report after we summit. Would love to spend several extra days in Colorado. Phantom Canyon and Gold Camp Road would be fun on the trike.

See how things go.

Have fun, your TG should do just fine riding up.

We ridden it a few times on the Tri Glide.

Just looked back thru some photos...ack, time flies. Looks like the last time we were there was 2018

We enjoyed it a lot...please note, every time we've been there it has been cold and windy at the top, while at the foot it is quite warm.

Don't Miss It!

Not a problem on a Tri-Glide.

It was a great ride! We brought some canned oxygen with us as a "just in case" thing.

We used it!

The view is incredible - feel like you can see forever you're so high up.

If you're in the area - don't miss it - there are some rides you just gotta do - this one being one of them!

Ride On!

We lived in Colorado Springs for 30 years before a recent relocation to Kentucky. Have taken the Tri-Glide up, as well as the Street Glide. You'll enjoy the trip. The new visitor's center is open. Buy some donuts.

Tips:

- Go in the morning. Drive to the top first, and do the sight seeing on the way down. The Peak will cloud up and you'll loose the views if you dawdle or go in the afternoon.....

- Don't be bashful about stopping at around 10K-11K elevation and put a layer on. There will be a significant decrease in temps at the top and you WILL get cold....

- Pop a couple of aspirin at the bottom. It will help a bunch with the headaches and light headedness you'll get at the top.
