Personal or Vanity Tags...Who has one...

Here is mine,

I just got it in today.....:) It is not easy coming up with something that's not already taken here in California.

Had "CVA ME" (medical people will get it right away) as my vehicle plate first in NJ, then Pa when we moved 20 years ago. Had it as my bike plate for years till my racing accident in 05, then I got the second tag :(

The price for a custom bike plate in Texas is ridiculous,$150/yr + yearly registration cost. Our trike would cost approximately $210/yr.
It's even higher for a car or truck,$195/yr + yearly registration cost.

Is that cost $737 every year or just the first? Texas doesn't have a user tax, like that. Motor vehicles have a fixed yearly cost for registration, depending on their classification. IIRC,our trike license plate is $60/yr. When we purchased our Street Glide,we paid a one-time 6% excise(sales) tax on the purchase price. That was over $1,000,though.

Holy hell! Is that just for vanity tags, or is that ALL bike/trike registrations? That would probably price me out of riding (curious if your state has a higher incidence of unregistered bikes on the road due to those costs)...that's gotta be painful :AGGHH:

Had one on my custom but soon it was too costly with tax's due at the same time. Tags cost me close to $600 and if I had one of them there fancy plates it would add another $50 per tag. Not counting paying to have it made which is a one time charge of $75
I have disabled tags on my trikes and truck.

Tough to see in the trike picture, but here's our NJ plates. Several people, including a dealer, said they were surprised they were still available (about 2 years ago). One time fee of $50 each - then after that, whatever the regular registration fee per year is for the Gold Wings ( I think it's $58, but not sure w/o looking...)

I'm waiting for my new vanity plate for the Tri-Glide to arrive. "AB2ZK" is my amateur radio call sign. I already have it on my SUV so they just add a tiny -2 to the same tag number for the trike plate. Amateur radio vanity plates only cost $15 extra here in New Jersey instead of the usual $50 for any other vanity plate.
