Pain in arms

Have you tried relaxing your grip while riding?

Thats part of my problem, I find myself not relaxing. I found setting the cruise helps, but I ride in town quite a bit just to get to the open road. I relax then down the road I find myself all tighten up again. Must be an old age thing. Even my legs are tight then try to relax. Didn't have this trouble with all the different two wheels bikes.

Thank you for the info.ThumbUp

I don't know how long you have had this Trike of yours, but it almost sounds like you just haven't got your trust into it yet... it took me longer to trust and get the feel of my trike longer than any 2 wheel i have owned.

Just don't try to man-handle it and let it take you down the road. They are just a harder bike to turn and do that (turning) slowly, right ? Have Convidence my friend!

Good luck.....and enjoy...:Coffee: and by the way; Chu Lai-25th inf.

Welcome home brother.
Been riden the trike for a year now.

Flatfrog, I was thinking the exact same thing. One of the things I did to lessen my grip was to get a set of Harley Get-A-Grip chrome end grips to replace the rather small diameter stock rubber grips. With the knurled grip and fatter in the middle profile, I was able to substantially reduce the force needed to keep a grip in my hand which I think translated into reduced effort for my neck/arms/shoulders.

The Harley-Davidson Get-A-Grip grips are awesome! Mine made a world of difference to the way I feel on my bike. Somehow they make me feel more in control of the bike. There is no loss of grip in cold or wet conditions. My hands don't cramp like they used to towards the end of long days on the road. You can't be a wimp if riding without gloves tho, lol. They will make impressions in your skin, but it's worth it to me.

I must be doing something wrong as I ride only for an hour or so and my shoulders and elbows are sore. Takes a day or so or the pain to ease up. Left arm was hurt in a accident years ago and I can't get it to go over about 45 degrees straight. Thought about different bars but don't want to spend money on things that might not help. Guess this getting old sucks. Don't really want to sell the trike but if that what it takes it will go. Only 8k on my 2016 tri glide.

Got to be honest with you,if you cannot lock your left arm straight when making right turns,it's eventually going to make your shoulders and elbows hurt.

"Only 8K miles" on your 2016 TG? IMO,your handicap (if you want to call it that) sure isn't slowing you down much,if any. ThumbUp

Necessary Changes

I have the DK lift kit, Mo-Co's extended reach bars with the Get a Grip grips, Mustangs multi adjustable backrest and the wide touring 76033 seat. Changes made a world of difference. Going on 71, I just did a 4300 mile loop from TX to CA and back. Rode 12 hr days without issue. As mentioned early on, loose the oe factory bars. They suck. Ditto the basic grips and factory seat. The lift kit goes a long way in lightening up the steering effort. Last but not least, make sure your tire pressures are set correctly !

The only thing I haven't done that you have is change the seat. I probably won't do that, I'll just put on a sheep skin or the mesh pads.

Haven't rode 12 hour days, but I feel I could if I had the seat cushions to keep my butt dry.

Well I moved my backrest back one click to give me more room, now the SO is a little tighter in the tummy area. But for me it helped some. Being some what limited as to arm movement and my hand have arthritis setting in. I don't think I'll change much. If I have to sell then I would be just spending money and giving it away. For an ol phart of 74 years young I just ride when I can and as far as I can when I can. :D

Move the tour pak back with relocation kit?

Picked up my new Trike, Wed. after they changed the bars (as part of the deal) & it feels just as good as the Low did.

Now that I have the ventilated rider pad from the mother ship, I'm truly wanting to see if that would have made a difference support wise using the factory seat on long rides. If it does, I will put the Mustang up for sale.

Don't know if you have the lift kit or not, But if you don't , Putting it on will lighten the steering effort some what...

1 more question please. Did you need to buy a longer Brake cable? when you installed your 2+2 Handlebars? and what length if you did? thx..

Tbear. I'm not the one you addressed in your question, but when I installed mine, I used a +4 clutch cable.

The Khrome Werks 2+2 bars on 2014+ do not require extensions. I know several who have them on their trikes.

Bob :D

thanks Bill. Some say they didn't need too and some (like you) say they had too. Would you have the part # by chance and pricing for that Clutch cable? thx.:Coffee:

Which ones?
