Overheating Phone/GPS

Hi, all... I am really enjoying traveling around on my Roadsmith trike. However, now that the weather is heating up, my phone is overheating when I have it connected as a GPS. I have a mount on my handlebar. Yesterday, it hit 100 degrees and my phone stopped working until I could cool it down. Obviously, this isn't going to be a reliable solution for me going forward (I ride in Arizona and Nevada). Can anyone make a good recommendation on a GPS unit that will work well in extreme heat and perhaps rain? I'd like a good reliable solution as we travel on the bike quite a bit. Thanks!

If you can keep it out of the sun keep it out of the sun. Mine heats up in my car when the Sun shines on it and quits working until it cools down.

I just purchased the Garmin Zumo XT a few months back. It is designed for motorcycles. It has a much brighter screen that doesn't get washed out in the sunlight. It is a little more expensive than some Garmin's, but can also be used off-road and is waterproof.

Do you have the phone in a case. Being in Texas I ride a lot in the high 90's and low 100's during the summer. Use the phone for all my nav, never had problem. The phone is in cased in Otter Case.

I also have Garmin Zumo, as well. Only use it if I need it, but haven't used in 4 years!

This is the GPS you want:

And how does this relate to a Road Smith trike??

not really specific to roadsmith trikes.... why not post in a general / not trike related forum???
