One of the members in our SCRC riding club wanted to see the Superman mural in Bronte, Texas. This is a couple hundred mile ride from where we live so it took a bit of organizing. Steve Walker, a ride captain and a all around good guy did the planning. Then, the day before we left he took sick and could not go. That left me to be the road captain. We had KSU (Do we say that for trikes) at 9:00 AM and headed west. There were 7 of us. Along the way we met Dave and Maria Mercer of the Concho Valley Chapter at a restaurant in Ballinger, TX. There is one restaurant and a Post Office in Ballinger. (Big City). We left Ballinger and headed west to Bronte where we were photographed with the Superman mural. We then rode about 20 miles north to Fort Chadabourne and old army outpost of the Indian Wars. This restored army fort is really interesting. First thing we did was asked to view a movie. See the photo of the chairs we sat on. I was a wuss. As soon as the photo was taken, I got off the mount and sat on the couch in front of the horses. There, the lady of the manor was proudly telling us of the two million dollar contribution to the musuem. Stan, our second officer is a hoot. The lady was wearing a silver necklace and a silver bracelet. So Stan touches her bracelet and exclaims, "I see where the money went." That's Stan, always good for a laugh. Here is a photo I took titled "Driving Miss Stanley"

We left Fort Chadabourne and headed south to San Angelo. One of the quests to visit was "Miss Hatties Bordello" on Main Street. Before finding the brothel, we saw a couple of a Goldwing Bikes. We stopped them and visited (Texas talk for talking) with them for a while. They said they lived just outside San Angelo. I asked them if they knew where Miss Hatties was and the lady said, "yes, its just up the street." Stan did it again, He just happened to mention to her, "You look familiar, Did you used to work there? The lady and her husband laughed. If I said that, I would be picking myself off the ground. But Stan gets away with most things. Our luck: The Bordello was closed, but the owner saw that we were from out of town and he allowed us to visit. Here is the official coin of the realm. This is a photo of Jill and one of the "ladies" that were employed. Well, I just discovered that I can only upload a maximum of 5 photo per thread. Anyway, we had dinner then rode to our motel room. We wanted to visit Fort Concho the next day, but it did not open on Sundays until 1:00 PM. We had to be home early as Monday is a school day and Jill is a teacher. A great time was had by all.

Nana, We are a fun group. Everyone likes everyone and no one has any agenda other than riding and enjoying each others company. They only made one mistake and that was making me first officer.

Here is a photo of my card and our group at the Christmas Party.

I am the character in the yellow-green shirt. Stan, the jokester is standing next to me with his wife Donna in front of him. My wife stayed inside and does not want to be in a photo with me. Lol.

Larry, thanks for the excellent post and pictures! This is exactly the kind of adventure/pics I was looking for when I created this section. I see that I need to add the ability to post more pics per posting, so I'll modify that. ThumbUp

Is nothing sacred? While I was trying to regale readers with that post, my wife interrupted me four times with "honey do's". Temperature has dropped 37 degrees since 11:00 AM. She had me put water the pool, deliver Christmas cookies, put air in her truck tires and finally unhook the water hose to keep pipes from freezing. When I told her I was telling a story, she did not seem impressed.

Glad you enjoyed the tale.writing about it was almost as much fun as doing it.

That was great Larry.

We also have one of those kind of groups and we've been all over the country to a wide variety of interesting places I would have otherwise never have seen.

Only difference is that we don't have a "first officer" or any other structure.
Our only rule is that whoever proposes the trip we agree on has to plan it.

Now, I gotta admit we ain't been to a bordello yet, but I may now have to plan that next trip! :10:

There is a big man made lake outside San Angelo with lots of blue bonnets in season and a fine steak house in Lowake.
