Last night i left the ign on to see too enter code in front door walked thru the house opened the garage door, walked out and started bike, oil light stayed on until i pulled in the garage then shut it off.Checked oil good, restarted oil light went out as normal.restarted this morning all normal.Any ideas other than leaving switch on so long.No engine noise such as lifters bleeding down.If it takes a dump new engine on HD.

A one time occurrence?.....I would chalk it up to a harmless gremlin....

In another life I knew a dude who was racing a Porsche very successfully. Then he installed an oil pressure gage and his lap times went up 5-10 seconds a lap. Why? The oil went into the outside valve cover in turns, the gage dropped and he lifted off. He got rid of the gage and started winning again. :Joker3:

My 17 M8 had a code stored

I checked it with my Power Vision first

Sure enough a 1 time fluke?

Oil sender shorted

I reset the light and checked it with an ohm meter

It checked OK but I have 1 on order under warranty

I am going to check pressure with my master gauge just for grins

Would not be the first time I have seen a bad sender unit

Put about 125 miles today and all is well, will monitor it on the way home.

Jeeze, guy, lighten up before you get an ulcer .

A friend drained his oil then headed from Virginia to Daytona without refilling. He made it to So. Carolina before his bike started to smoke. He said "Oh ****!", added oil and rode down to Daytona and back. He was still riding it when I lost track of him. I'm not suggesting you ride without oil pressure but ..... Enjoy your ride.

Short story: day before leaving town heading to Sturgis, the TG is at dealer getting checked out for the trip, including LOF. Went to shop to pick it up and service dept says no oil pressure reading when test ridden. Determined problem was oil sender. None in stock so they took one off another bike in for accident damage, so that I can head off to Sturgis in morning. No problems on the way out to Sturgis. But on the way home, oil light and check engine lights come on. Pull into gas station, engine smells hot, let bike cool down, check oil level - ntf, start it up, never happened again. At some point though, no oil pressure reading again. Take it to dealership. They check it intensely, determine trouble is in radio, not reading oil pressure. New radio to be ordered under warranty ( I have been down with back issues, so no hurry ).

My Dealer has been seeing issues with early 2017 M8s dropping oil pressure and several total failures. He says the 2018s are a different better oiling system. My sales guy just blew up his M8 .... and he does ride hard! He only got it because some JA pulled out in front of him and totalled his 2016 TC103.

I'd treat every oil pressure issue as something to make the Dealer aware of and get on record.

Normally it wouldn't be a concern but home is Ohio and i'm in Daytona got a 1000 miles to ride to get home, just don't want any issues on the road. Will contact the dealer when i get home.

Thanks Mikey. Trying to do too much, not one particular event. WOW, was that painful! Took me to my knees! Sounds familiar huh?

Hell, for me it is just as hard to get down on my knees as it is to get back up. Pretty soon I'll have to pay one of the grand kids to pick stuff up.
