One last thing I need to be ready to go for is a bigger better oil cooler on the wife's 2011 Tri Glide. It appears from the comments of those that have been there done that ----------the two units to choose from are the Jagg, 10 row fan assited and the Ultra cool -- thus need guidance from those with experience relating to this issue ---
Thanks

I did the Ultra Cool. I am pleased with the unit. It does the job just as described by the company. The oil lines are a bit of a hassle to route so make sure you download the pictures that they have posted on their site if you choose theirs. I've had mine on for 6 months and about 6000 miles. I also have a oil temp gauge. It runs at 230 during normal weather temps up to about 90 degrees out. That's as warm as I have encountered so far. It will move up to about 245 in stop and go traffic. The longest delay that I have had in stop and go traffic has been about 20 minutes.

The Jagg also has a great reputation but i have no working knowledge of the unit.

I hope this helps you.

When I went to purchase a fan assisted oil cooler for my 2011 TG, the Ultracool required some metal to be cut/ground off the frame. Since I did not want to do that I returned it and then got the Jagg system. It worked very well for me.

Not sure if Ultracool has modified their cooler so it no longer requires the small frame modification or not. Gorilla?

No frame mod required. You can download the installation instructions from their web site. Ted

I have an Ultracool that I put on an 04 Road King. For me, tightening the oil lines was a hassle, as said. They give you a little modified cheapie wrench to do the work, but it quickly bends out of shape. The oil filter mount is clunky, because when you try to remove or install the filter, the whole thing racks in it's mount, which makes me worry it will eventually spring a leak (I probably installed something wrong). If oil leaks from the filter when changing oil, it will run right down into the radiator fins of the cooler, and then you have a mess which tends to attract dirt. Also, the radiator part is in direct fire from rocks off the front tire. On mine, with the oil leak, I had quite a slurry of gravel and dirt imbedded in the fins. I installed a homemade mud flap on the front fender to fix the gravel, and got real careful when removing the filter.

Again, this was installed on an 04 Road King. May be different on other HDs.

Other than that, it's been just super.

That's great...I'm sure they got more than a few returns because of that, and made the necessary modifications.

On a related note....on the 14's neither the Jag or the Ultra-Cool will fit. I'm looking at installing the Oil Bud cooler.

I went with the 10 row fan assist Jagg and the Wards fans. Very happy with both.

I now have a factory TRI so no on the Ultra. It was on my previous trike and it worked very well.
