We've all read about the hot Tri-Glides. I took off the lower fairings when I inherited my wife's '09. Replaced them with Linby Bars. After our run to Yosemite National Park last week, she said her legs got too hot riding. Soooo. ordered the Linby Bars for her '11 Tri-Glide. Just took off the lowers, new crash bars won't be in 'til Thursday.

Sooner or later I'm going to take off the tourpack and make my Ultra into an XXX.

First thing I did was take the lowers off..sold em on ebay. Did the same with my Ultra. Just too bulky looking for my taste.

I have soft lowers I can use when it gets cold and wet.

I love the lowers especially when caught in hail storms. Last year we were caught in one while in SD and the lowers came in handy because we couldn't stop riding because there was no place to take shelter. When we got back to the hotel my buddy had welts on his lower legs with some of them bleeding, he didn't have lowers on his Electraglide.

ouch!

Harley-Davidson sells a kit that will convert the lowers to detachable. I have the kit and it takes me about four minutes to remove the two lower fairings and about the same time to replace them when the cold temps arrive.

I just took mine off today.I've got leather highway bar chaps that just snap on in a minute.I think it makes the trike look sleaker with em off too.

took the trike out today for the first time since taking the lowers off.last weekend the oil temp was running at 275-280 in 85 deg temp at highway speed(55-60 mph).today it was at 244 in 80 deg.temps at the same speed.guess it did help.still thinking off installing a Ultracool oil cooler.See them advertized at $375+ shipping which i think i can afford.maybe i can get the warden to get a 3rd job.
