off to thailand on Sunday. some time ago we built 2x self contained road repair trucks and shipped them to Thailand. now its time to go and commission them.
was hoping to hire a bike, but its a bit dodgy over there. cant rent a harley, all bike rental companies seem to want to hold your passport, and i wont be parting with mine.. identity theft is big business... so looks like its 4 wheels for me, which is a bit dissapointing. might see if i can find a better place to hire from while im there.

Careful and Godspeed....
Thailand's Military declared Martial Law yesterday.
Having some major Political unrest-Beware the Crazies
Given all that, more wheels the better and add Armor if possible ;)

Wishing you a safe Journey and return ThumbUp

We have a member who lives in Thailand, he's from the USA. You should get in touch with him. When I get a minute I will look for his contact info on the members list or maybe you can. Go to community, member's list, advanced search, then type in Thailand in the location.

thanks for the concern. but you cant live a life worrying about stuff that hasnt happened yet. tourism is worth a lot to Thailand so im not expecting any hassles, and i am traveling on a business working visa for the good of the country.
thanks for the heads up Bazooka i will have a look and find out where our member is.

Thailand survived,, actually there was little evidence of any drama at all except the curfew, which meant not much going out for a beer or 5.
once the curfew was lifted till 12 pm we could go out and again no real drama at all. the media loves a good story pump up. saw one protest and avoided loitering in the area.. all sweet. however. bangkok is a dirty smelly grotty turd, and thats on a good day. things can be bought cheap but everyones a scammer or a beggar,or a con man. everyones out for your dollar and it gets extremely tiresome in a very short time.
im sure there are nice parts of thailand, but we didnt see any. saw lots of unusuall and funny things on the road, and there freestyle driving style is entertaining to say the least. families on a scooter mum and dad with helmets, 2 kids without... women ride pillion side saddle. scooters going against the flow on a one way highway. scooters on the footpath and even through market areas. scooter taxis. chaos everywhere.. 25 plus people on a Jap ute back
hot rod trucks. funny stuff
so bangkok is safe, but i wouldnt recommend it to anyone, unless they wanted to meet a hot ladyboy...LOL
scarey but some of the ladyboys look better than the women
