Off to Sturgis!

My Harley group has been planning a trip to Sturgis and the area for almost a year and tomorrow is the start date. We'll be on the road about 12 days. 6 days there and back. We're staying in Rapid City with day trips to Sturgis, Badlands, Mount Rushmore and Devil's Tower. Then down to Colorado to ride the Rocky Mountain Park, then home out of Denver. I almost hate to leave the trike at home but at 67 I'd better ride on two wheels while I can and since Kathy didn't want to go it's two wheels for me.

Four nights and three days in Rapid City. 11 or 12 days total. We always allow an extra day for weather or illness.

Sounds like a fun trip,but I'm betting when you can't find a flat spot to park in Colorado you will be wishing for the trike! Wish I was going with you I love Colorado. Be safe. :laugh:

You hit the nail on the head. The winds were a really wooly booger. I had to steer two to three foot into the wind just to stay in the lane. Hope it's better tomorrow when we go to Sturgis and Deadwood.

I just returned from Sturgis and a 3700 mile trip with three great riders. I have a 2013 Ultra Limited and never ride two up. The stock seat was a lot like a cheap hotel in the fact it had no ballroom! I researched and bought two seats;HD Signature Solo and the Mustang vintage solo. I tested both seats and the HD won hands down, this was just personal preference, the Mustang was well built and a nice seat. While riding long and some hot days I did well, the new seat paid for itself. This trip was on my bucket list and at 66 I'm working on getting the list checked off. We rode to Sturgis, Deadwood, Bad Lands, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, General Custer Park, Needles Highway, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Colorado and The Rocky Mountain Park, Kansas, Iowa, Illinois, Indian, Ohio and home to Kentucky. A great trip and the Harley ran like a clock, a loud clock!

The trip of a life time. We're thinking about riding to Alaska next year and if we do I'm probably going to go on the GW Trike.
