it would be interesting to know how big of a ground wire you used.
I would seriously repair the original ground wire before riding to far.
if you used to thin of a wire and everything is going threw that wire for ground you will melt and burn that wire creating more problems than you have now. cause everything that wire is running along side of new ground wire will melt right with it.
I'm hoping you used something about the same size as the ground cable. that's on the battery now.
the ground coming off the battery should go down and bolt to the back of the engine..
if you remove and clean the ground cable on the back of the engine, clean the surface areas then put it back on that should be your issue right there.
