Who's going riding New Years day?
I have for a lot of years (note lot of years) but this year I don't know it seems colder than it used to.
It's been really cold in Kansas and will be New Years day, I probably will.
Hope to see some of you out if I go.

Should be in the mid 60s here... I am sure the wife will want to go for a ride...she will do 10 hour rides and never complain...sometimes she says it's time to stop and get gas and we all know what that means...lol
I plan to do a lot more three day weekends in 2015...

Riding with GWRRA Chapter to Bagby State park. Fifth annual great place and ride. Good way to start the year. RIDE SAFE

Our local HOG chapter has a Mike Teel memorial ride every New Years Day. If the weather is really crappy, we ride in cars to the destination. The coldest I rode the Harley was in the mid 30s.

Oh yea ! Annual Snow Balls Ride . I have 4 different routes to adjust for temp. ranging from 1.5 miles to 30 miles. only thing that stops us is rain or snow. Have to be safe out there.

I will be, even if it is a shorter ride. Project high of 39 and 90% chance of rain...so it may be real short. We'll see, cold is ok, cold and wet...another story. :)

After 4 days of rain, temps to be in 50's and sunny, so we will take a ride jjust to start the New Year. Like most of us, the cold and wet would drive us in. I think that after all these years and miles, we ride for the enjoyment not the endurance.

I generally do, but Mitzie has to work that day this year...I will see...I'm sure the Motorcycle and Bicycle will at least make a short run each that day.....;)

It will be a short ride here in Georgia, but we will have fun at the wiener roast. It will be a great day in the mid-50s and no rain.

Frost Bowl ride today, 24 degrees when I left house this morning, but 0 % chance of rain. Local club ride, 11 riders today. Great way to start the New Year, Near Cades Cove, TN.

We got ours in and it was great after working on the house for the last 3 days. It was only about an hour ride, but it really felt good. About 38 degrees and cloudy, but good enough.

Our Blue Knights chapter had 12 riders for our annual Polar Bear ride Thursday, 1-1-15
35 degrees when I left the house, 38 for the ride...had a good time, short ride but a ride none the less...

I ride all winter here in the Chicago area. Ended the year with the Toys For Tots Parade in Chicago. We start with a new years day ride called "Freeze Your Ass Off" ride. I had a patch made and I hand it out to all that ride with me(not many). It shows a rider with a chunk of his ass falling off.
Then every Sunday I have a BBB (Blue Balls Brunch) ride if the roads are dry - doesn't matter what the temp is just has to have dry roads. We ride to a brew pub or other eating establishment for lunch - usually about 1 hour each way.
I get around the problem with salt by liberally spraying S100 Corrosion Protectant all over the bike - then wash it off in March.
I have heated gear so it doesn't matter what the temps are.
Balaklava is must have for long or very cold rides.
The only thing I have to put up with now is listening to all the non winter riders whining about they can't wait for summer to get here - I just smile and ride away grinning from ear to ear. :) :)

My old saying is "I'm not spending $34K for a bike just to store it in a garage for 5 to 6 months of the year."

I see most on this thread are from the south to mid south - can't be too bad down there. :)

Stay warm friends.

No riding for me yet. It was -11 deg New Years Day. The lane still has 2" of snow on it and the county road doesn't get much attention from the snow plow. It is snowing again today. Soon the sun will come out and burn off the snow.
