I am finding that when using the new post selection on the tool bar that the posts seem to be accumulating and not resetting back to zero and forward from the last access point. Has somin changed or have I canged my access method?
Thx

Have you recently updated your computer? I have a new, very up-to-date laptop, and I have found the same issue on it. However, my older desktop computer still re-sets to show posts only from my last access point. Soooooo, I am assuming that the newer laptop came with a setting that has made the difference, but I couldn't begin to guess what setting that is!

Since I first joined the forum, I would each day go to "New Posts". I would always get the posts made since my last visit, but after overnight. ie if I read posts in the morning and went back a few hrs later the same read posts would still be there; but after an overnight since new posts were read, the next day I would get only the posts that I had not read.

Now as of a week or so ago, the posts viewed never disappear and continue untill I go to quick links and "mark forums read". To my knowledge I have made no changes to the puter here. Any ideas?
Thx

Thanks for the detail explanation.

Actually, no... It's not happening to me and I've never seen this happen to anyone else.

Let's see.... what operating system and what browser are you using? Let's start there and look under the hood.

Dave same thing here. Been going on for a couple of months. tried looking at the setting but can not find the issue. Prior to it starting I made no changes. I e-mailed Nana and we thought it was a cookie issue, but no that has not fixed it.

I am running AOL with XP and that could be the issue but now that others are speaking up, I would be interested in knowing if that there browser as well. I was running Adaware anti spyware and have changed to Spybot.

If it is happening to so many then I would have Zook speak with the IT guys about how the site handles cookies especially since this has just started. If you guys remember, this site had a few issues a few weeks ago and this may be a side effect.

I would say... no one touch a thing on their computers until IT gets a chance to take a look at the site.

Zook, you reading all this??

I had the same issue on the 3 computers that I use. It just started to happen last week. I did what the Wiz suggested and it fixed the problem for me.

If it worked for Wiz and Oldmsocko it should work for everyone.

The issues is happening on my computer as well. Such as.. I replied to this thread this morning yet when I go to "new post" all topics are shown as a darker font yet I'm the last one to post to it... that's not right.

My "New Post" shows 8 pages of new post/replies... It continues to grow. That's not right either.

Somewhere, somehow the site cookie is not feeding and refreshing to our computers which contains the recent history of each computer. So, If the old cookie is left in the computer then that would explain this issue. The cookie is not being refreshed.

The IT guy needs to get into the control panel, VBullentin Options, Cookies and HTTP Header Options, Cookie Domain and see if something is amiss.

This option sets the domain on which the cookie is active. The most common reason to change this setting is that you have two different urls to your forum, i.e. example.com and forums.example.com. To allow users to stay logged into the forum if they visit via either url, you would set this to .example.com (note the domain begins with a dot.

Path to Save Cookies:

Is the path to which the cookie is saved. If you run more than one forum on the same domain, it will be necessary to set this to the individual directories of the forums. Otherwise, just leave it as / .

I'm assuming the Host runs multiple domains. I believe they are.

May want to make that call Zook.

That seems to be only a temporary fix Mike... something's up. It's not a game changer, just a pest. We have a Cookie Monster lose in the server.

You pin pointed the exact time; the issue for me started when the site came back from the virus issue. Also I periodically delete cookies with my spyware but that never created the issue. When I loaded Spybot the program immunizes the threats. It could be that if a cookie is required that the spybot always disables it. I can reinstate the cookie if I knew the name.

If it's happening to everyone then that would rule out our computers, yes?

I really think it is a refresh issue on the site. If a new cookie was sent to refresh the old cookie then this wouldn't be happening to us all.

Its been happening to me, running Ubuntu 10.10 and Firefox. I've been hanging out waiting for it to heal it self:wave4::D.
