After owning motorcycles for years and never parking them on the street around here I received a big surprise the other day. No it wasnt a ticket but it was a vehicle sticker notice from the city telling me I had an non stickered vehicle licensed to my address. I guess someone at village hall figured out if we go through all the records of vehicles with our town address now we can send out notices to get vehicle stickers on them. Over all the years of living here and knowing other motorcyclists I dont know of any that get vehicle stickers just for the fact we never park on the street and if we did being motorcyclists most villages consider us second class citizens compared to motorists. Nov first I put my trike to sleep sadly due to just getting out of the hospital and my riding is done for the next 6 months possibly or more. Im still trying to get her maintenance done (but thats another story). I like that buy a vehicle sticker for a vehicle that wont see the streets for another 6 months maybe. They look for new ways to skin a cat by layers.

We used to have to buy city stickers in both of the towns in my county. Had to buy one because I lived in one town, and one because I worked in the other. Then the police chief of the town I worked in cited the county attorney for not buying a city sticker there, because the county attorney worked there.

Long story short, the county attorney took his citation to court, and it went all the way to the state supreme court. They ruled that cities could not assess a vehicle license fee, or road usage tax (they tried to say it could be either). As a result, all cities in the state of Kentucky had to discontinue them. And all this was because a small city police chief wanted to try to one-up an elected official.

I my town during school days on certain streets near and around the High School residents have to have a sticker [No fee] to park on those streets, Otherwise the students will park in every available spot, Sometimes blocking driveways, And of-cause leaving the obligatory Mickey-''D''s rappers and drink cups on the curb..... For the residents to pick up......

Sounds like you live in Illinois. I grew up in the Chicago area and the police would come up in your yard (fenced or not) and look for vehicles without stickers to to ticket. Just one of the many reasons I got the hell out of there and haven't looked back! Besides, Arkansas has a longer riding season. Win-Win!:clapping:

Please excuse my ignorance, I have never had to get a city sticker for a vehicle. What are the requirements? Is it a license plate like the state issues, except by a city? If you live out of the city limits, what then?

Just about every municipality in IL has a city sticker. And the little bastid was just as expensive as the plates. I do not miss IL and that states exorbitant taxes.
