without changing the stock exhaust made our 2012 trike mufflers sound loud and raspy! Bought head pipes from V&H, so no cat converter. The converter must have offered a lot of resistence cuz the sound of our exhaust now is horrible.

Short of putting the conveter back on, how do I get a decent (low) tone from the mufflers?
I have the V&H power duals & Pro mufflers. Awesome sound, but maybe to loud for you. I have a built engine,so I need all the free flow I can get.

I can't get moonshiner's link to work so here it is again, these sound tame to the stock, but I wonder if the head pipe has been changed.

Skeet, if you watch the you tube video V&H has the sound of my set up on another video right after. V&H Power Duals & High Output Pro Mufflers. That's what mind sounds like. The radio is not quite loud enough now at seventy-five & eighty with the wind noise.

How loud are they after a while on say the interestate? Also did the Power Dual get rid of the heat? also did you use the FuelPak? On that video, the sound is awsome, more like a race car. But would that get to be a noise problem after a while of riding?
Skeet, the V&H power duals took away the majority of the heat. We drove from Indiana to California last August when the temperture was 112-120, no problem. The loudness of the mufflers grows on you. My wife didn't like them at first but she doesn't mind them now. You can sure hear me coming down the road. I also have the SE tuner, which helps richin things up. Plus 10:1 forged pistons, Ported & Polished heads,259e cams for low end torque. SE clutch spring, painted inner fairing,Klock Works 6" windshield,Dennis's tour pack relocator, lift kit, chrome bumper,HD mud flaps,Alligater seat down the middle with Black Osterige down the sides, 2"pullback handle bars. No problem doing wheelies. Yes my pipes sound loud like the one on you tube, but a good loud.

wish I could figure out how to put mine on you tube. There is a picture on my profile.I don't know if you heard the right video. When you watch the first video & it comes to the end,it will say if you want to replay. Go up to the heading that says 2010V&H with slip-ons. Click on that heading to get to other sounds. The second one on the right says V&H Power Duals & Hi-Out put slip-on mufflers. That is exactly what I have. Good luck. Jim

That guy in the video has some serious knuckles. Sorry, that didn't add anything to this thread, I just had to mention it.
Actually, I like loud pipes. I put a gutted oem header with Supertrapp Kerker Slip On's on mine and it's still not loud enough. But it sure does sound a lot louder and different than stock! The tuner and intake have a lot to do with that I'm sure. It really turns heads now. But who knows, maybe they are just wondering what the heck is all that racket is and not that it sounds good.

Pipe sound can change too over time depending on the muffler type. If they are packed like mine, which have changed each time I rode it since I put them on recently, and which will continue to do so until they are completely broke in might not be appealing to you at all at first.

Go to You Tube and search for Muffler Sounds 2012 FLH. Besides the rear being different it is a FLH. It is not gonna sound that much different than a two wheeler.

I downloaded a crap load to my cell phone so I could listen to them over and over again to be sure before I bought mine.
