The place that was making our new trailer called today and said it was ready. We dropped everything we had planned and hurried on down to take a couple of pics and pick up the title paperwork so we could get plates for it. Tomorrow I'll be taking the bike and the wife will drive the car to the dealer, they will set up the front wheel chock when we get there. They've got a scale and we'll get the tongue weight spot on before it's bolted in. It looks long in the pic, I think it's the angle I took it at, it's a 7 x 12, steel frame, aluminium body and roof weighing in at 1600 lbs.

We have a 2016 Ford Edge with the V6 engine, we brought it home today with the trike in it, towed perfectly, no sway but we only got up to 60 mph. Our first trip will be to Maggie Valley in a few weeks, that should give it a good workout.

will be interesting to see how it hauls thru the mountains. If nothing comes up, I'll be in MV also and will be looking you up for a report.

I'm riding down to Greer SC first and then back up to MV on the 5th. Going to take it easy and only do 500/day give or take 50 miles..

Did you set up your electric breaks while you were at the dealer?
If you don't mind, what was you tongue weight when you got your trike in the trailer and set up? I am sure you put most of the load over the axle.
Thanks,
Rosy

Hi Rosy, glad you're doing better. We set the tongue weight at 310, around 11 %, moved it fore and aft with the whole thing on a scale. I think by the time I add a few things inside we'll be around 12%, I don't see any problem with that. We'll be living a little on the edge but we didn't get brakes on the trailer, we're leasing the Edge and it would have taken a new wiring harness and was cost prohibitive on a vehicle we're giving back to them. We used to trailer our 20' boat everywhere with no brakes and never had a problem, just had to be a little more careful.

Thanks for the info SloRide, any pictures of how you have yours set up?
