Hi to all. Just joined today. I am currently a 2 wheeler but very much interested in purchasing a trike in the near future. I really don't know much about trikes so I will be searching the forums trying to increase my knowledge from all the valuable experience offered by the riders here. I have so many questions and I am really not sure where to begin. Feel like I need to have some limited knowledge to ask an intelligent question. Anyway, thank you in advance for any guidance. Ken.

Welcome to the board. don't worry about asking intelligent Questions :p
Just ask any question and we will try to confuse U :D
Only Kidding, fire away and read all the post U can.. we have a great group here and they are very friendly and helpful...
Some of the first things U need to do is look around ur area for dealers and installers, unless U are going to do the install urself.. then all U have to do is figure out the make of motorcycle and the kit.
See it is not so bad
Ride safe and don't be afraid to ask questions.....

welcome aboard Ken. What do you ride now? Is that what you intend to convert or are you going to buy a finished product. That ought to get things started.

Thank you for the welcome. To answer a couple of questions above. I currently ride a BMW ST. I am not looking to convert that bike but want to buy a trike and would use the trike for touring and the BMW for commuting. I am not a mechanically inclinded person (read, my ablility to repair a breakdown on the road requires me to carry plastic as my tool kit), so it woulld be most important for me to find a dealer who can provide the whole package.

From what I have read so far I seem to be leaning towards an upscale trike, like a GW, with most of the bells and whistles. I guess a good starting off question is, who can recommend a reliable dealer in the New England area? I do not belieive there is anyone in Rhode Island, but what about the someone close by in MA, or CT? Any thoughts? Thank you.

Welcome Ken! Great people here, and LOTS of great info!! Are you looking to buy new or used? It's a bit of a drive for you (ok, an understatement), but I got my trike from Ronnie's in North Adams MA. I think all his new trikes are Lehman, but he's had some used CSC's in the past. Might be worth checking it out.

Oh! And Cycle Design - they have a shop in Phillipston, MA and a trike shop in Keene NH (aka American Trikes and Motorsports). That one seems to have a variety of trikes - if Rob and Lyn are around, they could probably give you more info since I believe they're friends with the owner (although I've been known to be wrong! ;)).

There was a dealer in Plainfield , Ct called Excalibur not sure of the spelling. check it out that is only 60 miles from where you are

Spiritdream and John thank you for the leads. It's snowing and wind blowing over 35kts. Good day to check out these places on the web. Thanks again. Ken

Try this . I don't know where in RI you are but this should be close
excalibur motorsports ct - Google Search
I just checked the site and looks like the last of the trike shops in Conn have gone under.
Sorry for the miss info. U might try to contact them anyway and see who they suggest.

Forgot about Excalibur - hope they're still open!!! The last time I was there (last summer) they didn't have much of anything - some Hondas, some Suzukis, bunch of crotch rockets, and a few ATV's pretty much covered it, if memory serves me correctly. Even the clothing and helmets weren't a great selection - what they had was mostly geared for the crotch rocket crowd. I went in there for a rain suit (preferably Frogg Toggs), but they had very little to choose from, and nothing in my size at all.

As far as trikes, they've never "stocked" them. I talked to the owner when I was getting ready to decide on a trike, and he was basically an installer. Said I could buy a GW from them and they'd do the conversion, or I could bring my own. He also said he'd do Harley conversions, but he didn't sell them so I'd have to bring my own bike to him. I can't remember if he said they do Champion or CSC, but I talked to another triker one day who said they'd done his Roadsmith conversion.

OH!! If you're looking for a Spyder, there's also Palmer, Springfield, Worcester, Massachusettes, Kawasaki, Can-Am, Ski-Doo, Motorcycle, ATV, Utility Vehicle, Dealer, Used, Parts, Accessories, Apparel, Ski-Doo, Karavan, Snowmobile, Trailer, Watercraft, Jet Ski. The website says they have one 2010 Roadster in stock, too.
