New and truly curious

Both of us on there are about a total of close to 500 lbs including gear and stuff in the trunk and tourpak. We do have 14” pro action shocks. Not sure if this helps. It never struggled even pulling a fully loaded trailer behind. I think shocks is the key for handling extra weight.

@Dieseluladstron ,
I also agree 100% with @Notgrownup ….
I myself am “fluffy” and never missed a meal, lol!

Your best friend is a GOOD pair of aftermarket shocks. I too, have ProAction shocks (there are also a few other good ones out there) and when you purchase them, you give them your total weight and they will be set up for you. (And you can still dial in the spring preloads and “rebound clicker” fine tuning too!

I also have a tour pack relocation bracket kit just for extra comfort for me and the wife, which even sets her back 2-3 inches (over the rear) and will definitely tell you that there is no issues at all.

But not only will a good pair of shocks help improve your overall ride & handling, it also takes care of this concern . They are well worth it.
👍🏻

I recently purchased my Tri Glide. Is there a way to increase the weight limit for passengers safely so both myself and the wife can ride? (We are both larger riders)
I have converted to pro action shocks many years ago and I have had conversations with the folks there, especially George Quay president and founder especially of late. I encourage you to call them up, explain your needs, and they may actually offer various spring rates for those shocks.

I am certainly not disagreeing with anyone about the benefit of coil-over shocks. I have upgraded mine, as well. However, I believe stock setup should handle up to 500 pounds fine, with your shocks and tire psi adjusted properly. Enjoy and ride safe!

You didn’t indicate the year of the trike but for 2025 stock suspension, weight limit per the pre-load guide is 400# total. To ensure the best handling and the safest ride possible, you need to contact after market shock dealers to define what is needed to handle your desired total loads.

Very good point and reminder of adjusting tire pressure too! 👍🏻
I know I keep mine between 22-24, but should adjust up a little when wife & gear is added.

I also found this info that is in the Owners Manual of a Tri Glide I just found a PDF of… I’m just not sure if it’s typical for all Tri Glide years??
I’m sure they are also being cautious and reserved on this recommendation with the stock suspension. (Certainly the aftermarket coil overs would help… but how much better? I do not know).

A rider and passenger combo of 500 lb (+/-) I don’t think is an issue.
.

Edit: I found this PDF for a 2025 year (and has info for the FreeWheeler & RG3 too), but the Tri Glide is highlighted:
