Need Some Trike Hauling Opinions Please

Greetings Goldwing Brothers.

Below is a series of pictures I took of my Goldwing trike tied down in my 7'x 10' RC trailer before hauling it to Florida.

I posted some pictures in the past just for a trial run, but here's the real deal.

What I need from you people is take a close look at my set-up and see if I missed anything.
I really need your honest opinion on if my 1800 trike will survive a 2000 mile road trip the way I tied it down etc..

Yes, I will be stopping offend to check if my 2" ratchet tie-downs become loose.

I would really appreciate your input on the matter seeing I never haul a trike before this far.

Cheers!

I might change the wheel chock tie-down, I don't like the way it's putting pressure on the brake disc.

Front secured to wheel chock

:Agree: :Agree: I agree Mike.

I'd wrap the strap around to front of the wheel and the wheel lock as insurance but the way you have the soft ties around the frame pulling forward I don't think the front wheel is going anywhere. Dan has a point about securing the front suspension some. That trailer is probably going to ride pretty smooth but a tiny bit of down pull pre-load on the forks might not hurt. I put just a little tension on mine when I trailer. You could do soft ties around the lower triple tree, over a blanket on the fender, then down to the front wheel lock with maybe an inch of compression. Everything else looks pretty solid!!

I agree with all the others. The front chock has to go. I'd replace it with one of those 1800# rated chocks from Harbor Freight. They can be had for $50 to $60 bucks. I just bought another for $47 on sale. I know they're designed to hold a two wheeler upright, but they have a stancion that makes for a great place to wrap a tie around just using the rim of the front wheel.

I'll echo some of the other posts... Never put a strap on or near a brake rotor, If the bike moves or the strap is too tight the rotor might bend/warp....

Remove the front wheel strap. Use soft-ties around the lower triple plate w/ratchet straps going to the D-rings. Do not compress the forks over 2"s.
Forget the frame straps so you don't have to remove the side covers.
Trans in neutral
Tighten the front straps first. Then just snug the rear straps.

Agree with all the others about the front wheel tie down. Another thing to keep in mind are the wheel bearings on the trailer. They have a habit of running dry and throwing everything out of sorts. Be sure they are greased and in good shape. Been there and done that. Almost lost a trailer due to failed bearing on the interstate.
luck with your travels...

Hope there's no trouble there, it's a new trailer, but thanks, I'll still check those bearings before I leave.

I try not to over do it,when I tie mine down.It really don't take much to hold these in place.I try not to load the suspension to much ,so it don't weaken the springs.I would think you could take the strap off of the front wheel and the other straps will hold it with no problems.
