My father in law recently passed. Years ago, my wife and a bought him a 2004 GL1800 with a Lehman Monarch 2. My wife inherited it, and it has some issues I am addressing before I let her on it. There does not seem to be an auxiliary shock, which explains his rough ride. I want to replace the oem shock and install a proper auxiliary shock. I saw a couple threads referencing an LB0626, but every time I clicked the link (mjtrikes) it took me to a strange webpage that led to nowhere. There is a lot of work to be done on this trike, I know. I have only just now pulled the shell off and I want to start with the shocks. Any help with a working resource where I can purchase both of these shocks is much appreciated.IMG_8218.jpegIMG_8219.jpegIMG_8217.jpeg

Upon further inspection am I wrong by thinking there is no place for an auxiliary shock to be mounted on this kit? I am thinking perhaps this kit pre-dates 2006 whenever they started adding it? Do you know of any other solution such as replacing the OEM shock was something stiffer?

UPDATE. I did finally find the OEM shock. It’s just much farther forward than I imagined. I got everything off and I have access to it, on the dash the psi adjustment does go up and down from 0 to 25 and I can hear the pump working, but there is no commensurate Change in rigidity on the shock itself. I am guessing I will need to remove it, open it, possibly refill or rebuild it.

The Honda stock preload hydraulic actuator motor/pump controls the shock adjustment. You add hydraulic fluid to that area, not to the shock itself.

1800s are known for the fluid level being low. There are plenty of threads on many forums about how to do it. While you have the body off would be a good time to service the pump anyway as its a pain to get to with the body on.

On an 1800 shock I dont know if theyre rebuildable but they are refillable. With the key on and the motor off and the pump motor at 1. When you go to raise the the pump numbers at what number does the pump start to sound like its under load? The Honda shock only changes like a quarter inch. Refilling it isnt too bad as its located behind the right wheel on the frame.

I have a 2007 wing with the exact same kit, my comfort shock was completely bad and in had to replace it. i ended up getting it from Wing Stuff out of California. it was around 1,500 bucks though. but it is brand new OEM. You should have two shocks on the rear, the factory Comfort shock which is adjustable from the buttons on the left hand lower side of the Ferring and when they installed the trike kit they added anther progressive shock in order to handle the additional load. you will need both of them to be in working order.
